Tom Kristensen fungeert als extra steward bij Emilia-Romagna 2021

Tom Kristensen vertolkt komend weekend bij de Grand Prix van Emilia-Romagna op Imola de rol van adviseur van de stewards van de internationale autosportbond FIA. Het is de eerste keer dit seizoen dat de Deen de rol van klankbord voor de wedstrijdleiding op zich neemt. Door de jaren heen heeft de FIA al veelvuldig van zijn diensten als extra steward gebruikgemaakt.

Kristensen heeft zelf nooit in de Formule 1 geracet. Hij testte wel voor Minardi, Tyrrell en Jaguar, en bereidde bandenleverancier Michelin voor op een terugkeer in de Formule 1 met een Williams uit 2000. Kristensen was vooral succesvol in de 24 uur van Le Mans die hij acht maal op zijn naam schreef. Eind 2014 zette hij een punt achter zijn imposante carrière.

De andere stewards dit weekend in Imola luisteren naar de namen Tim Mayer, Silvia Bellot en Iacopo Arcangeli.
