F1-baas Domenicali: "Geen toeschouwers in Portugal en Spanje"

Stefano Domenicali geeft toe dat toeschouwers worden uitgesloten van de eerste double-header van 2021 in Portugal en Spanje. De F1-CEO zei dat hoewel hij dit seizoen tevreden is met de televisiecijfers, er ook een ongelooflijke wens is om fysiek in de buurt van de Formule 1 te zijn.

"Het probleem met het publiek in de Formule 1 is zelfs nog complexer dan vorig jaar", vertelde hij aan de Sky Italië. "We reageren op de dagelijkse situatie die van uur tot uur verandert. Helaas zullen we geen fans op de tribunes hebben bij de volgende Grands Prix in Portugal en Spanje, maar Monte Carlo zou de eerste Grand Prix met een beperkt aantal mensen op zondag moeten zijn. Dat geeft ons hoop om vooruit te kijken", voegde Domenicali eraan toe.

Hotels en vluchten boeken

Alfa Romeo-teammanager Beat Zehnder zei echter dat hij komend weekend niet eens vlucht- en accommodatieboekingen maakt voor het Zwitserse team buiten Barcelona.

"Normaal gesproken ga ik op kerstvakantie nadat ik alle boekingen voor het volgende seizoen heb gemaakt", vertelde hij aan Auto Motor und Sport. "Nu, ik heb alleen geboekt tot Barcelona. Vroeger had ik daar veel last van, maar vandaag moet je er gewoon mee leven."

Ondertussen zei Domenicali dat hij in gesprek is met Italiaanse functionarissen om Imola mogelijk een vaste plek op de F1-kalender te maken.

"Ik kan niets beloven dat niet zeker is, maar toen de minister van Buitenlandse Zaken (Luigi de Maio) naar Imola kwam met Sticchi Damiani en de president van de regio, hebben we dit wel besproken. We zijn aan het praten en ik hoop dat we de komende maanden zullen zien dat er wat gaat gebeuren."

Verbaast me niks. Zolang de versgeïnjecteerden hier in Portugal bij bosjes blijven omvallen moeten ze eerst een nieuw verhaal gaan verzinnen.
