Organisator Grand Prix van Rusland hoopt op halfvolle tribunes

De Formule 1 lijkt in september een race af te leggen voor halfvolle tribunes tijdens de Grand Prix van Rusland.

Nu de covid crisis aanhoudt raken TV-kijkers gewend aan lege of half gevulde tribunes naast de circuits. Organisator Alexey Titov van de Grand Prix van Rusland in Sochi kan nu nog niet voorzien welke maatregelen rondom covid er zullen gelden tijdens de Grand Prix van Rusland van later dit jaar.

Hij geeft toe dat zijn taak geen gemakkelijke is tijdens de voortslepende covid crisis. "De beperkingen maken ons werk er zeker niet gemakkelijk op."

Tegen het Russische F1News.ru zegt Titov: "Rekening houdend met de ervaring van vorig jaar, begrijpen we nu een beetje beter hoe we ons werk moeten doen tijdens een pandemie."

Hij vervolgt: "Natuurlijk blijven er nog wel wat moeilijkheden. De definitieve zekerheid over welke beperkingen het evenement precies opgelegd gaat krijgen is er nog niet. NIemand kan nog zeggen wat er in september gaat gebeuren."

De Russische GP-organisator vervolgt: "Door de beperkingen op het grondgebied van Krasnodar hebben we al een capaciteit van vijftig procent van de tribunes, en dat is al goed voor ons. Daar hebben we vorig jaar al aan gewerkt."

Hij sluit af met een opmerking die weer nieuwe vragen oproept die voorlopig onbeantwoord zullen blijven:

Titov: "Dus over het algemeen werken wij zoals gewoonlijk."
