F1-expert Surer: "Pole position van Ferrari was eenmalig"

Het is onwaarschijnlijk dat Ferrari zijn pole position en potentiele snelheid om een race te winnen, zal herhalen op andere Grands Prix in 2021. Dat is de mening van voormalig F1-coureur en nu Duitstalige tv-expert Marc Surer, die de snelheid van Charles Leclerc en Carlos Sainz in Monaco toeschrijft aan een 'geweldige wielophanging'.

"Van alle auto's reed de Ferrari beter dan wie dan ook over de kerbstones. Dat is in ieder geval een goed teken voor het Italiaanse team. Als de auto stuitert, kun je niet accelereren, maar als een auto direct kalm is nadat hij over de kerbstones is gereden, kun je hem weer volle kracht trappen. Ik denk dat dit een enorm voordeel was in Monaco en dat het ook goed voor Leclerc en Sainz zal zijn in Baku", zo zegt Surer tegen sport1.de.

Typisch Monaco

Surer denkt dat Ferrari dit jaar het voordeel van het springen over de kerbstones op andere circuits zal behouden, maar bagatelliseert de kans op meer pole positions en daarmee dus ook de winnende snelheid.

"Dat ze in staat waren om de twee beste teams te verslaan, was volgens mij typisch Monaco", zei de Zwitser. "Ik kan me niet voorstellen dat het zo zal zijn op de andere circuits, maar ik denk dat de derde plaats waar ze naar op zoek waren absoluut mogelijk is. Daar zullen ze met McLaren voor moeten vechten, maar eigenlijk denk ik dat het binnen hun mogelijkheden ligt."

Surer zei dat Alfa Romeo ook profiteerde van een boost in Monaco 'omdat ze een Ferrari-achterkant hebben'.

Weersveranderingen, late gele en rode vlaggen tijdens Q3 volgens "expert" Surer helemaal niet meer relevant! Om het nog maar niet te hebben over een mogelijk nadeel van een eventuele aangepaste achtervleugel van de RB op het kwalificatie resultaat.

  Als die vleugel echt een halve seconde scheelt... Daarzaten zowel McLaren als Ferrari toch regelmatig binnen. Ik zou het wel jammer vinden voor de races, want op dit moment is vooral Red Bull in staat de Mercedes aan te vallen.

  Misschien verwacht je teveel van Marc, immers volgens dit artikel is hij een "Duitstalige tv-expert"... Wellicht zijn de meningen van Surer m.b.t. het beeldverschil tussen OLED en QLED tv's beter op zijn plaats? ;-)

Als je hier een mening heb die Ferrari goed naar beneden haalt, ben je voor sommige stukjes schrijvers een F1 expert, ''voormalig F1 coureur'' in de koptekst zetten was ook te lief geweest....
