Renault met voor DRS verbeterde achtervleugel naar Valencia

Het team van Lotus GP introduceert komend weekend een nieuwe achtervleugel voor de R31. De Britse renstal heeft bij de ontwikkeling met een schuin oog naar het Drag Reduction System, oftewel de beweegbaarheid van de achtervleugel, gekeken. De nieuwe versie is namelijk speciaal ontworpen voor DRS.

Technisch directeur James Allison: Ik verwacht een toename van het aantal inhaalacties in Valencia dit jaar. Het rechte stuk is lang genoeg voor de invloed van DRS en ik reken ook op grote prestatieverschillen tussen de banden. Dat zal tot veel inhalen leiden. Zoals altijd hebben we een reeks aan updates voor onze auto. Meest in het oog springend is het bovenste deel van de achtervleugel met een groter effect wat betreft DRS. Dat levert ons in de kwalificatie meer snelheid op en in de races zorgt het voor betere inhaalkansen.
