Mugello mogelijk op de kalender als Turkije niet door gaat

De Formule 1-kalender is in tijden van corona een grote puzzel. Een aantal races zijn al van de kalender verdwenen en vervangers zijn ook al weer aangewezen. Een van die vervangers is Turkije, maar nu lijkt Turkije zelf ook vervangen te moeten worden.

Het Verenigd Koninkrijk heeft namelijk besloten om Turkije op de rode lijst voor COVID gezet. Dat betekent dat iedereen die in Turkije is geweest 10 dagen in een corona-hotel moet verblijven en als iemand besluit dat niet te doen volgt er een dikke boete. Het probleem is dat veel Formule 1 teams in het UK hun hoofdkwartier hebben.

Volgens Motorsport.com is Mugello in beeld als mogelijke vervanger mocht Turkije van de kalender verdwijnen. Het circuit in Italië had vorig jaar al voor het eerst een plekje op de kalender. Nu is er dus een kans dat het circuit in de buurt van Florence weer de kalender op mag. Het is voorlopig even afwachten hoe de situatie zich ontvouwd.
