Nog veel onzekerheden omtrent de Turkse Grand Prix

In de tijden van corona blijft de Formule 1-kalender er eentje vol onzekerheden. Het is namelijk nog steeds de vraag of de Turkse Grand Prix wel door kan gaan. Turkije staat namelijk op de rode lijst van Groot-Brittannië en daar resideren de meeste teams.

Op 16 september komt de Britse overheid met een nieuwe update van hun rode lijst. Alle mensen die de UK binnen komen terwijl ze in een rood land zijn geweest moeten 10 dagen in quarantaine. Dit zou niet handig zijn voor het Formule 1-personeel. De Turkse Grand Prix staat namelijk van 8 tot 10 oktober op de planning terwijl ze op 22 oktober weer in Austin moeten zijn voor de Amerikaanse GP. 

Ook Formule 1-CEO Stefano Domenicali is zich er van bewust dat er nog veel onduidelijk is. In gesprek met Motorsport.com kijkt hij naar het wel of niet doorgaan van de race bij Istanboel: "Dit is alles wat we nu kunnen leveren qua informatie. En tot nu toe is alles stabiel. Dus laten we hopen dat er niet gebeurd waardoor de situatie kritischer wordt maar tot nu toe is dat bevestigd." De Italiaan weet echter één ding wel zeker: "Het enige wat ik weet is dat de verkoop in Turkije heel erg goed gaat dus dat is heel goed nieuws."

      Ik denk dat daar weinig oranjefans zijn. Maar het is wel een mooi circuit, dus ik hoop dat het door kan gaan en dat de teams een oplossing vinden voor de quarantaineplicht in de UK.

      Ik heb twijfels over doorgang Turkije. De GP was eerst op de kalender, toen was ie eraf, daarna weer terug en nu deze onzekerheden. Met deze onzekerheden is het lastig om in dat korte tijdsbestek nog alles goed op elkaar af te stemmen en te organiseren, lijkt me.

      Nou als die GP in de zomer gereden zou worden zijn genoeg Nederlanders daar. Daar zorgen Cor en Don wel voor.

    ik denk dat ze bedoelen dat Turkije op de rode lijst staat voor de Britten en dat dat een probleem kan zijn ivm de restricties van Europa
