Werkzaamheden Abu Dhabi moeten zorgen voor meer inhaalacties

De Grand Prix van Abu Dhabi is inmiddels uitgegroeid tot een vast bewoner van de Formule 1-kalender. Er is echter één groot nadeel aan het Yas Marina Circuit, inhalen was er heel erg lastig. De organisatie heeft die kritiek ten harte genomen en is aan het verbouwen geslagen.

De werkzaamheden zijn momenteel op de helft. Het doel van de organisatie in het VAE is het verbeteren van de inhaalmogelijkheden. Hiervoor passen ze meerdere delen van het circuit aan. De chicane in bocht vijf en zes zal verdwijnen en ook de hairpin zal aangepakt worden.

Het zijn niet de enige delen die worden aangepakt. Ook de langzame bochten 11 tot en met 14 zullen verdwijnen. Ze worden vervangen door één snelle bocht. Ook andere bochten worden aangepakt om er voor te zorgen dat de 'apex speed' veel hoger zal liggen. Ze hebben nog eventjes de tijd want het Formule 1-circus zal pas op 12 december neer strijken op het circuit.
