Vettel blij met nieuw contract: "Ik geloof in de kracht van ons team"

Het was even de vraag of Sebastian Vettel in 2022 nog wel Aston Martin-coureur zo zijn maar inmiddels zijn alle geruchten de kop ingedrukt. Vanochtend maakte het team namelijk bekend dat Vettel ook in 2022 voor hen zal rijden. Een hele opluchting voor de viervoudig wereldkampioen.

Op de site van Aston Martin reageerde de Duitser op het nieuws van zijn contractverlening: "Ik kijk er heel naar uit om in de nieuwe generatie Formule 1-auto's te mogen racen. Ze zien er heel anders uit en het nieuwe technische regelement zal ons auto's geven die veel closer kunnen racen dan voorheen."

De nieuwe regels in 2022 kunnen er zomaar voor zorgen dat de kaarten opnieuw geschud zullen worden. Vettel is zich hier als geen ander van bewust: "De veranderingen zijn zo groot dat elk team opnieuw zal moeten beginnen. Het is dus een goede mogelijkheid voor Aston Martin. Ik geloof in de kracht van ons team dus ik kijk uit naar 2022."
