Räikkönen weer terug: "Ik ga gewoon verder met mijn werk"

In Sotsji zal Kimi Räikkönen weer verder gaan met zijn afscheidstournee van de Formule 1. De populaire Finse Alfa Romeo-coureur is terug na zijn positieve coronatest in Zandvoort. Hij neemt de plek van zijn vervanger Robert Kubica weer in bij het Zwitserse team.

De wereldkampioen van 2007 is dan ook blij dat hij weer in de auto mag stappen. Op de officiële site van Alfa Romeo kijkt hij terug op de afgelopen periode waar hij noodgedwongen thuis zat: "Ik ben blij dat ik terug ben in de auto nadat ik twee races heb gemist. Vanzelfsprekend wil niemand positief testen maar het gebeurde en we moesten de regels volgen. Maar dat is nu verleden tijd en nu ligt mijn focus op Sotsji."

Potentie

Vanuit zijn sofa heeft Räikkönen in ieder geval gezien dat het team in Zandvoort en Monza niet onaardig voor de dag kwam. Hij arriveert dan ook vol goede moed in Rusland: "Het team heeft potentie getoond in de afgelopen paar races en nu moeten we dat omzetten in een goed resultaat."

Räikkönen hoeft niet opnieuw te wennen aan zijn ijzeren ros: "Ik denk niet dat terugkeren anders gaat voelen. Ik wil gewoon verder gaan met mijn werk en hopelijk hebben we een goede race."
