Räikkönen pakt punten: "Goed resultaat waar we hard voor hebben gevochten"

Een van de grootste verrassingen van de Russische Grand Prix was Kimi Räikkönen. De Finse Alfa Romeo-piloot wist zich door de heftige regenbui in de slotfase heen te vechten en reed naar de achtste plek, voor Red Bulls Sergio Perez. Hij was één van de grote profiteurs van de bui.

Na afloop was de ervaren Fin een gelukkig man. Op de officiële website van Alfa Romeo besprak Räikkönen zijn enerverende middag: “Het was een goed resultaat waar we hard voor hebben gevochten. We konden onze rivalen goed bijhouden toen het droog was maar inhalen was niet makkelijk, vooral in de DRS-trein.”

Räikkönen was een van de coureurs die op het juiste moment voor de inters koos. Hierdoor kon de Fin zich de top tien in vechten. Hij bespreekt de natte bedoeling in Sotsji: “Uiteindelijk maakten we de juiste beslissing met de banden. Ik dacht dat het te nat werd en we kozen ervoor om een pitstop te maken en dat hielp ons op het einde. We hebben ons best gedaan en we hebben punten gehad als beloning.”

Ze gaan hem nog missen daar bij Alfa. Straks met een grijze muis 4.0 en ... kan me eigenlijk niet voorstellen dat het GIO is, maar we gaan het zien.
