Steiner geeft Mazepin compliment: "Verbaasd over hoe goed hij samenwerkte met enigineer"

Nikita Mazepin kent een debuutseizoen waar hij veel kritiek te voorduren krijgt. De jonge Rus krijgt toch zeker ook lof, vooral van zijn Haas-teambaas Günther Steiner. Die is namelijk wel te spreken over zijn jonge Russische coureur die zeker ook een potje sponsorgeld met zich meebrengt.

Steiner kijkt op de site van Haas terug op de Mazepins thuisrace: "Nikita had zijn thuisrace en met onze Russische titelsponsor was er veel te doen. Hij heeft wat gefilmd ,voor en na de race, in Moskou. Dus hij heeft het gevoel gekregen van wat het is om Formule 1-coureur te zijn."

Mazepin zorgde voor verbazing bij zijn teambaas door goed te handelen in de late Russische regen. Steiner: "Ik was verbaasd over hoe goed hij samenwerkte met zijn engineer Dom toen ze de keuze maakten. Er was niet veel tijd voor een keuze."
