Russell heeft een baaldag: "Twee fouten teveel gemaakt"

George Russell leek lang op weg naar weer een goede kwalificatie. Maar tijdens de tweede kwalificatiesessie raakte Russell naast de baan en verprutste hij zijn rondje. Hierdoor kwam de Williams-coureur niet verder dan de dertiende plaats, een teleurstelling voor de talentvolle Brit.

Na afloop van de kwalificatie stond de teleurgestelde Russell de pers te woord. Tegenover Motorsport.com deed hij zijn verhaal: "Het is heel frustrerend omdat die ronde waarschijnlijk goed genoeg zou zijn voor de vijfde plaats. Een goede zes, zeventiende in de Q3 tijden."

Het was een zeer frustrerende zaterdag voor Russell. De balende Williams-coureur vindt dat hij teveel dingetjes fout heeft gedaan: "Ik pushte echt mijn limieten vandaag en ik ging er twee keer overeen. Dat zijn twee fouten teveel voor mijn doen. Ik ben een beetje teleurgesteld in mij zelf. Deze omstandigheden bieden enorme kansen voor ons. Vandaag hadden we een kans en ik heb dat verprutst."

Dat klopt, maar in de strijd met Ham zal hij er af en toe toch intrappen.
