Medical Car bestuurder mist waarschijnlijk meer races door COVID-regels

Afgelopen weekend moest de Formule het doen zonder de gebruikelijke Medical Car-crew. Bestuurder Alan van der Merwe en dokter Ian Roberts testten namelijk positief op het coronavirus. Nu lijkt het erop dat van der Merwe vaker afwezig zal zijn, de Zuid-Afrikaan is namelijk niet gevaccineerd tegen corona.

Race director Michael Masi denkt dan ook dat hij van der Merwe vaker zal moeten missen. In gesprek met RaceFans bespreekt Masi de kwestie: "Van wat wij hebben begrepen zijn er een aantal landen die je waarschijnlijk niet inkomt zonder vaccinatie. Dat is geen verschil met andere delen van de wereld waar je niet binnen komt als je niet bent gevaccineerd tegen malaria ofzo."

Dit betekent dat van der Merwe mogelijk vaker zal worden vervangen. Masi geeft ook aan dat de FIA weet dat dit waarschijnlijk moet. In Turkije werd de Medical Car bestuurd door Bruno Correia. De Portugees is de vaste safety car bestuurder van de Formule E.

    Op het moment dat Alan vd Merwe die tweets de wereld in slingerde, was zijn carrière over. Wel sneu voor Ian Roberts die slachtoffer is geworden.

      Waarom zou zijn carrière over zijn na zijn verhelderende Tweets?

      Hoezo is Roberts het slachtoffer geworden? Hij testte als eerste positief.

      @pietje bell: omdat de mening van vd merwe haakt lijkt te staan op de richtlijnen van de FIA en de vele gastlanden. Die reizen in een gevaccineerde bubbel en daarin zullen ze consistentie en zekerheid willen hebben.
      En Roberts lijkt slachtoffer te worden omdat het er op lijkt dat ze in vaste duo’s opereren.

      @Drivert,
      Roberts wordt niet het slachtoffer, want Masi heeft al verteld dat vd Merwe tijdens de laatste drie races vervangen zal worden door Bruno Correia.
      Roberts werkt gewoon samen met Correia.

      Oeps, te snel verzonden.
      Daarna gaat vd Merwe gewoon weer aan de slag met Roberts, dus zijn carrière is niet over.
      Er zijn trouwens wel meer mensen die elk weekend met het F1 circus mee reizen die niet gevaccineerd zijn. Die mogen dus de laatste drie races ook niet mee.

      Bestuurders van medical cars zijn meestal zéér gelovig en daarom laten ze zich niet vaccineren.

      @Ouwe, mag toch hopen dat je hier een grapje maakt.
      Van der Merwe was één van de eersten vorig jaar die behoorlijk ziek is geweest door Corona en heeft toen natuurlijke weerstand opgebouwd, waardoor hij nu weinig verschijnselen vertoont.
      Vanwege die destijds opgebouwde natuurlijke antistoffen heeft hij zich niet laten vaccineren en dat heeft niets met het geloof te maken.

      Of dat ik weet of bestuurders van 'n medical car gelovig zijn, en als dat het geval is moeten ze dat zelf weten natuurlijk.

      @Pietje Bell, die zogenaamd natuurlijke weerstand stelt niks voor. Na een maand of 3 kan je het gewoon weer krijgen. Ook nog zwaarder dan de 1e keer hebben we in onze familie helaas mogen ervaren
