Vettel volgende coureur met gridstraf na motorwissel

Ook in Austin gaan de motorstraffen weer een rol spelen. Dit keer is Sebastian Vettel het slachtoffer van een motorwissel. De viervoudig wereldkampioen is toe aan een vierde krachtbron en dat betekent een motorstraf. De Aston Martin-coureur zal een inhaalrace moeten rijden.

Vettel is het zoveelste slachtoffer van de reglementen omtrent het gebruik van motoronderdelen. In Turkije was Lewis Hamilton één van de coureurs die naar achter moest op de grid. Max Verstappen wisselde in Rusland van motor en reed daar vanaf de laatste startrij naar de tweede plaats.

De straf is de volgende tegenslag voor Vettel dit seizoen. Het eerste Aston Martin-jaar van de Duitser verloopt vooralsnog teleurstellend. Het absolute hoogtepunt van zijn seizoen was de tweede plaats in Azerbeidzjan. In Hongarije flikte hij dit kunstje ook alleen werd hij hier gediskwalificeerd.
