Lewis Hamilton als vis in het water in de Verenigde Staten: "Geweldig weer terug te zijn"

Resultaten uit het verleden bieden goede hoop voor Lewis Hamilton nu de Amerikaanse Grand Prix voor de spreekwoordelijke deur staat. Tijdens de vorige editie in 2019 werd Hamilton een aantal ronden voor het einde van de race ingehaald door Bottas, die won. Hamilton pakte met zijn tweede plaats echter zijn zesde wereldtitel als Formule 1-coureur. De Brit koestert dus warme herinneringen bij het Circuit Of The America's in Austin.

De Britse Mercedes-coureur voelt zich dan ook als een vis in het water in het land van de vrijheid en de ongekende mogelijkheden. Vorig jaar ging de Grand Prix in de Verenigde Staten niet door vanwege COVID. Hamilton: "Geweldig om weer terug te zijn na twee jaar. Ik heb al een warm welkom gehad van een aantal van mijn fans uit Mexico. Op deze plek liggen grote, geweldige herinneringen."

Hawaï

Hamilton looft de omgeving van het circuit, maar ook bewierookt hij het publiek dat doorgaans afkomt op de Amerikaanse Grand Prix Formule 1. Volgens Hamilton is hij enorm opgewonden om iedereen weer op de tribunes langs de baan te zien dit weekend. Tijdens de donderdagse persgesprekken krijgt Hamilton de vraag wat nu eigenlijk zijn ultieme droombestemming is in de USA. New York en Hawaï blijken Hamilton's favoriete bestemmingen. En omdat Hamilton ook aan surfen doet, vliegt hij elke januari steevast naar de aangename eilandengroep in Polynesië.

Hamilton: "Hawaï is absoluut mijn favoriete vakantiebestemming en daar wil ik met pensioen."

Hamilton jaagt op zijn achtste wereldtitel en zal daartoe zijn sterrenstatus wederom willen doen gelden op Amerikaanse bodem. De eerste vrije training van de Amerikaanse Grand Prix is vanavond Nederlandse tijd om 18:30 uur.

ja zeker goed dat hij weer terug is de vorige keer dat hij in Amerika was had hij wat last van zijn nek en kon hij niet echt genieten van zijn uitstapje .
