Fans geen fan van sprintkwalificatie, Domenicali nog steeds enthousiast

Dit jaar kwam de Formule 1 met het proefballontje van de sprintkwalificatie. Op Silverstone en Monza werd er mee geëxperimenteerd en de laatste van dit jaar volgt op Interlagos. De Formule 1 vroeg in de Fan Survey wat de fans ervan vinden en het antwoord is niet bepaald wat ze gehoopt hadden.

Van de 160.000 deelnemers was slechts 6,7 procent van mening dat het wat toevoegt aan de show. Dat is niet echt waar de hoge heren op zitten te wachten. Toch is CEO Stefano Domenicali onverminderd enthousiast. Tegenover de media laat hij zich horen: "De statistieken zijn echt zeer, echt zeer bemoedigend. Dit omdat je er rekening mee moet houden dat er gemengde gevoelens zijn onder de fans."

Domenicali wil de sprint-haters (dat zijn er dus best een hoop) te gemoed komen en heeft dan ook weer eens wat in gedachte. De immer-enthousiaste Italiaan spreekt zich uit: "De trend is bevestigd door deze mix (van sprintkwalificaties en normale): de traditionele versus de nieuwe fans. Daarom moeten we een compromis vinden."

      Daar komt het wel een beetje op neer inderdaad. Maar dat is natuurlijk overal zo. Alles wat commercieel is gaat om geld. Dan is het wel leuk altijd dat gel*l over de fans maar dat is gewoon politiek.

      Onzin, het kwalificatie format in de F1 is gekomen dankzij stemmen van de fans.

      Destijds heeft de F1 meerdere opties gegeven en de fans konden toen kiezen.

      Daaruit is het huidige format gekozen.

      Met dit soort getallen ben je een loempia als je niet luistert naar de fans

      Het is helemaal geen onzin wat ik zeg. Ik zeg dat je af en toe de fans het gevoel moet geven dat ze er toe doen. Maar dat de F1 altijd hun eigen belangen groter acht dan de fans. Dat zeggen ze natuurlijk niet maar zo werkt het vaak wel.

      Mijn punt is om aan te geven dat er wel degelijk in het verleden geluisterd is naar de fans middels forums

    De realiteit verdraaien daar zijn italianen meesters in.
    Ik vind het niks omdat het te weinig punten oplevert voor de winnaar en het maakt de 3e training zinloos.

    Ik vind het niets toevoegen, maar als keuze gemaakt kan worden tussen VT3 of mini-race, dan ben ik snel om.

      Er wordt geen keuze gemaakt tussen VT3 en mini race!
      De VT 2 wordt vervangen door de huidige kwalificatie, waarvan de uitslag ineens niet meer voor de race is.
      De VT3 wordt de VT2, die geen enkel nut meer heeft vanwege Parc Fermé.
      Als de VT1 door welke omstandigheden dan ook niet of gedeeltelijk verreden kan worden, moet iedereen het hele weekend met een wagen rijden, waarvan men de setup niet heeft kunnen bepalen. Geweldig!!!

    De eerste paar ronden is het wel leuk maar daarna valt het terug in een saaie processie, kunnen ze er geen race van maken over 5 ronden met een Le Mans start.

    Maar, beste meneer Domenicali, als u aangeeft dat er "sprint haters" zijn en die noemt u de traditionele fans, tegenover de mensen die sprint races wel leuk vinden en u schaart deze onder de nieuwe generatie fans, dan scheert u iedereen over één kam. Een betere optie is; voer een nieuw onderzoek uit onder de door u genoemde nieuwe generatie. Kijk dan wat de cijfers zeggen. Want, ondanks dat ik mezelf tot de eerste groep schaar en dat sprint races haten nog een te lichte bewoording is over hoe ik over de sprintrace denk, is een cijfer van 6,7% niet een cijfer wat in de wind geslagen kan worden. Het is een beschamend laag percentage dat dus positief is over de sprintraces. Het kan namelijk niet zijn dat 93,3% van de respondenten "traditionele fans" zijn. Dus schiet het format haar doel voorbij en mag je op basis van dit cijfer het, voor nu, een mislukking noemen. Natuurlijk houdt u de eer aan u zelf en zult u het format niet in 1 jaar afschieten. Maar wat als het cijfer niet positiever wordt binnen 3 jaar? Gaat u dan nog steeds glashard liegen dat het spectaculair en vernieuwend is? Of gaat u dan wel de juiste beslissing nemen door naar de fans te luisteren? Want, vergeet niet, door een reactie als deze, steekt u een dikke middelvinger op naar een kleine 150.000 mensen omdat u halsstarrig blijft vasthouden aan een prestigeproject welke, op dit moment, geen lang leven beschoren kan blijven. Een laatste optie is om gewoon eerlijk te zijn en alle financiële voordelen te noemen die sprintraces voor jullie als organisatie brengen. Want dat is het natuurlijk wel. En als u voor deze laatste optie kiest, dan kan een dinosaurus, als ik zelf, in ieder geval respecteren dat u eerlijk bent en de sprintraces voor lief nemen. Want nu wordt mij iets in de mik geduwd wat u presenteert als het beste sinds God deze aarde heeft geschept, terwijl dit overduidelijk niet het geval is.
