Hülkenberg happy na eerste Indycar-meters: "Deze stuurmonsters zijn zeer fysiek"

Nico Hülkenberg heeft zijn comeback achter het stuur van een racewagen gemaakt. Op het Barber Motorsports Park nam hij deel aan een IndyCar test voor het team van Arrow McLaren SP. De sympathieke Duitser heeft het naar zijn zin gehad en maakte ook nog eens indruk op het team.

Na zijn lange testdag keek hij tevreden terug op zijn eerste kennismaking met de IndyCars. Tegenover Motorsport.com spreekt hij: "Ik kan zeker bevestigen dat deze stuurmonsters zeer fysieke auto's zijn en het duurde even voordat ik mij op mijn gemak voelde. In de middag begonnen de rondetijden en de snelheid te komen en dat was erg leuk."

Ook teampresident Taylor Kiel was heel erg enthousiast over de verrichtingen van Hülkenberg. Ook hij spreekt zich uit bij Motorsport.com: "Het is zwaar om 108 rondjes te rijden zoals Nico hier deed. Dat zegt iets over zijn trainingsprogramma want hij heeft al een tijdje niet in een single seater gezeten. Maar het is een uitdaging die hij aanging en hij heeft het goed gedaan. Hij deed alles wat we vroegen en zette geen stap verkeerd."
