Derde Amerikaanse Grand Prix? Delegatie Las Vegas was aanwezig op COTA

Aankomend seizoen staan er twee Amerikaanse Grands Prix op de planning. Maar het kan zomaar eens zo zijn dat er in de nabije toekomst nog een race in de States bijkomt. In Austin was afgelopen weekend namelijk een sterke delegatie uit Las Vegas aanwezig.

De gokstad in Nevada is geen vreemde voor de Formule 1. In de jaren 80 werden er twee races gereden op de parkeerplaats van het Caesars Palace hotel. Het was allesbehalve een succes en de Formule 1 kwam hier niet meer terug. Nu heeft de sport een iets prestigieuzere locatie in de stad op het oog. Men wil namelijk graag over de wereldberoemde Strip racen, de lange weg waar alle grote hotels en casino's aanliggen.

Volgens de Daily Mail heeft de stad in Nevada er wel oren naar. Op COTA was een stevige delegatie aanwezig om met onder andere Formule 1-CEO Stefano Domenicali te babbelen. Ook de gouverneur van Nevada was onderdeel van de delegatie. Steve Sisolak bevestigt zijn bezoek: "Ik heb de kans gehad om met de leiding van de Formule 1 te praten en ik waardeer dat ze tijd voor ons vrijmaakten."

Die hotels daar zijn schathemelrijk.....laat ze gewoon een knappe baan daar bouwen in die zandbak, levert ook nog mooie belastingaftrek op.

Alles goed en wel, maar laat die Amerikanen aub niet met de hele sport aan de haal gaan. F1 is een wereldsport, en het moet niet zo zijn dat straks traditionele GP's in Europa of bv. Japan worden opgeofferd voor de poen in VS en Midden-Oosten.

  En over een paar jaar hebben rijdt de f1 ook gewoon een paar oval-races. Gewoon omdat het kan en er veel geld mee te verdienen valt. En als we pech hebben ook nog een paar dirt-traks en ijsbanen

  Zien we mss ook nog die verschrikkelijke vieze lelijke lompe nietsnut van 'n Chumlee van Pawn Stars ook nog op de tribune zitten met z'n vieze vette bast.

Nog even en dan nemen rodeo clowns de plaats van de chicanes in, huppelen de "show" bands voorop in de opwarmronde en springen die dansmarietjes bij elke gele vlag de baan op....kermisvolk
