Masi positief over Miami: "Het wordt geen parkeerplaats-race"

Aankomend seizoen staan er twee Amerikaanse Grands Prix op de Formule 1-kalender. Naast de inmiddels bekende race op COTA trekt de sport immers ook naar Miami waar ze om het Hard Rock Stadium heen geen racen. Men hoeft zich echter geen zorgen te maken dat het een Mickey Mouse-baantje betreft.

Race Director Michael Masi heeft inmiddels een kijkje genomen bij de werkzaamheden in Miami. De Australiër is enorm enthousiast. Alhoewel grote stukken van de baan op voormalige parkeerplaatsen worden gebouwd hoeft men zich volgens Masi geen zorgen te maken.

Tegenover RACER spreekt Masi zich uit: "Het is echt een serieus circuit. Het wordt absoluut geen parkeerplaats-race. Allesbehalve zelfs, als je kijkt naar de hoeveelheid werk die op een aantal plekken wordt verricht. Het begint er al goed uit te zien. Het zal echt iets unieks worden."

    Ik kijk naar de bijgevoegde plattegrond;
    ⅓ is op de parkeerplaats
    ⅔ is om de parkeerplaats

    Maar... waar gaan de bezoekers dan parkeren?

    De layout bekijkende zie ik alleen maar mogelijkheden in te halen buiten ronde 1 in bochten 11 en 17, de rest zal volgen blijken, ook met de nieuwe auto's in 2022...

    Nee, geef mijn portie dan maar aan banen zoals Zandvoort of Monza, daar is tenminste de illusie weg (breedte en korte rechte stukken resp. minder voordeel DRS) dat je makkelijk kan inhalen.

      De race is nog niet eens gereden, heck de track is nog geeneens klaar en de auto`s hebben nog km gereden maar jij weet al hoe t loopt... Mag ik ook je voorspellende gaven gebruiken op jouw kosten (want jij weet t toch zo zeker) met een paar buitensporige weddenschappen?

    Ik ben wel benieuwd naar deze track, en ondanks 2 rechte stukken die eigenlijk te lang zijn imo denk ik dat we wel wat actie krijgen op de baan. Ook wel mooi om te zien dat er toch nog wat hobbels/onregelmatigheden zitten in de weg die zorgen voor kleine hoogteverschillen (miniem maar dat vind ik altijd mooier om te zien als een biljartlaken die strak is).
