Oud-Formule 1 coureur Anthony Davidson hangt helm aan de wilgen

Voormalig Formule 1-coureur en Sky Sports analist Anthony Davidson heeft aangekondigd te stoppen met racen. De Brit stopt ermee na de laatste race op de WEC-kalender. De Engelsman rijdt momenteel voor JOTA in het WEC en was daarvoor fabriekscoureur bij Toyota.

Davidson reed tussen 2002 en 2008 24 Formule 1-races. Veelvuldig kwam hij als invaller in actie. Hij maakte in 2002 zijn debuut bij het team van Minardi tijdens de Hongaarse Grand Prix. Hij reed dat jaar nog één race en reed in 2005 zijn derde GP bij het team van BAR. In 2007 had hij een permanent stoeltje bij Super Aguri, ook in 2008 reed hij voor het team totdat het failliet ging.

Tegenwoordig is Davidson een bekend gezicht in veel huiskamers wereldwijd. Hij is namelijk werkzaam bij Sky Sports als analist en informeert hier het publiek over alles in de Formule 1-wereld. Op Twitter bedankt Davidson iedereen die betrokken is geweest bij zijn loopbaan.
