Bottas ziet zichzelf als teamplayer: "Ik ben geen titelkandidaat meer"

Nog anderhalve maand en dan is Valtteri Bottas geen Mercedes-coureur meer. De Fin wordt vervangen door George Russell en vertrekt zelf naar Alfa Romeo. Toch gaat Bottas er niet met de pet naar gooien, hij blijft zich vol inzetten voor het team en teammaat Hamilton.

Deze week riep Timo Glock dat Mercedes in het nadeel was omdat ze Bottas al relatief vroeg in het seizoen aan de kant hadden geschoven. De Duitser beweerde dat Bottas wel eens zijn eigen plannetje kon gaan trekken. De uitspraken kwamen vanzelfsprekend terug op de donderdag.

Op de gebruikelijke persconferentie werd Bottas geconfronteerd met de uitspraken. Hij kan zich er niet bepaald in vinden: "Realistisch gezien ben ik geen titelkandidaat en ben ik een teamplayer. De vijfde wereldtitel is heel erg belangrijk voor het team. Als er een manier is waarop ik Lewis kan helpen voor het kampioenschap, dan doe ik dat. Zo sta ik in deze situatie."
