Gasly rijdt zeer simpel naar P4: "Gehele race was zeer eenzaam"

Achter de Red Bulls en Lewis Hamilton reed Pierre Gasly een perfecte race. De Fransman stuurde zijn AlphaTauri naar een zeer knappe vierde plaats. Opvallend genoeg reed hij redelijk onbedreigd naar deze positie en zorgde hij ervoor dat drie van de eerste vier finishers Honda-coureurs waren.

Bij de start kwam Gasly nog redelijk goed weg. Hij besprak het moment voor de camera's van Sky Sports: "De start was nogal hectisch met Daniel en Valtteri die elkaar raakten. We moesten samen met Sergio door het gras om de crash te vermijden. Maar daarna was de pace ongelofelijk."

Gasly had na de herstart ook geen enkele concurrentie. De Fransman reed zeer constant: "De gehele race was zeer eenzaam. De Ferrari's reden vlak achter mij maar ik kon elke ronde heel simpel weg rijden bij ze. Het was heerlijk om de auto te besturen. We hadden goede balans en het was zeer goed om vierde te finishen."
