Snikkende Mazepin: "Ik was goed bezig en toen ging ik de fout in"

Nikita Mazepin kwalificeerde zich in Brazilië weer eens als allerlaatste. Je zou denken dat de Russische Haas-coureur er langzamerhand wel aan gewend is maar niets is minder waar. Mazepin stond hevig geëmotioneerd de pers te woord na een waardeloze kwalificatie.

Met tranen in zijn ogen verscheen de jonge spraakmakende Rus voor de camera's van de media-afdeling van de Formule 1. Hij had goede hoop op een goed resultaat maar alles ging fout: "Ik was bezig met een goede ronde maar toen ging ik de fout in en tja."

Zijn tranen inslikkend vervolgde Mazepin zijn betoog. Hij hoopte Williams te kunnen aanvallen: "De auto voelde echt goed. Dit was de dag om een goede kwalificatie te hebben en dicht op Williams te zitten. Ik pushte echter te hard. De jongens hebben perfect werk geleverd. Ik heb zelfs op de simulator hier nog nooit gereden. Maar ja, ik heb het opgefuckt."
