Gasly steekt hand in eigen boezem: "We hadden een belabberde start"

Pierre Gasly was de grote verliezer van de sprintkwalificatie. De Franse AlphaTauri-coureur vertrok vanuit kansrijke positie maar kwam 'slechts' als achtste over de finishlijn. Het ging allemaal mis bij de start voor de Franse coureur die onderweg ook nog werd verschalkt door Lewis Hamilton.

Na afloop van de sprint sprak Gasly met Sky Sports. Hij was zelfkritisch: "We hadden een belabberde start. Ik verloor drie posities richting bocht 1 en had niet de pace om de Ferrari's en McLarens in te halen. Het was duidelijk niet de start die we hadden verwacht dus we gaan kijken wat er morgen beter kan."

Gasly had verder geen makkelijk half uurtje in Sao Paulo. Hij geeft het eerlijk toe: "Het was niet de makkelijkste dag voor ons. Vooral de laatste paar rondjes op de softs waren niet makkelijk. Zoals je weet is het pas over als de finishvlag is gevallen. Dus we kijken vannacht naar de strategie en we doen er alles aan om morgen sterker voor de dag te komen."
