Lokale overheid ziet nieuwe overeenkomst Grand Prix van Spanje wel zitten

De Grand Prix van Spanje wordt al sinds 1991 verreden op het Circuit de Catalunya vlakbij Barcelona. Op de onthulde kalender voor 2022 stond bij de Spaanse Grand Prix echter nog een sterretje aangezien de contracten voor de toekomst nog niet helemaal rond zijn.

Nu lijkt het erop dat er licht aan het einde van de tunnel is voor het circuit in Catalonië. Spaanse media berichten namelijk dat de lokale overheid heeft besloten door te willen gaan met de Grand Prix. Ze willen dan niet alleen door met de Formule 1 maar ook met de MotoGP.

Volgens de Spaanse media zou de organisatie snel een nieuw contract gaan tekenen voor de wat langere termijn. Er zou namelijk een nieuw contract op tafel liggen tot en met 2026. Het zou onderdeel moeten worden van een meer duurzame transitieperiode voor de regio om het circuit heen.
