Hamilton heeft 2022-auto nog niet aan de tand gevoerd: "Hij wordt razendsnel ontwikkeld"

Nog twee races en dan zit het huidige Formule 1-seizoen er al weer op. Aankomend seizoen gaan er compleet nieuwe regels gelden in de koningsklasse van de autosport dus dat betekent dat de teams al keihard bezig zijn met de ontwikkelingen van de nieuwe auto's.

Ook het topteam van Mercedes bevindt zich momenteel in die fase. Het team van Lewis Hamilton wil vanzelfsprekend weer mee doen om de medailles en is hard bezig met de nieuwe auto. Hamilton is in ieder geval zeer betrokken bij de ontwikkeling.

Handen vol

Maar voorlopig is de nieuwe racewagen nog niet aan de orde voor Hamilton. Tegenover Motorsport.com spreekt hij zich uit: "Momenteel focus ik mij op de huidige auto. We hebben onze handen daar momenteel al vol aan. Ik sta de hele tijd in contact met het team over de 2022-auto."

Simulator

Hamilton is wel al veel bezig met specifieke elementen en onderdelen voor de aankomende auto. Zelfs tijdens de debriefs dit seizoen komt het volgens Hamilton elke keer weer ter sprake. Hij is zeer betrokken bij de ontwikkeling maar heeft nog geen rondje op de simulator gereden. "Op dit moment heeft dat geen zin door de progressie die in de windtunnel wordt geboekt. Dat heeft geen zin omdat hij razendsnel wordt ontwikkeld."

    Ik schat in dat bij de top 5 teams op dit moment de focus ligt op dit zinderende seizoen. Die 2022 kar blijft de komende weken een mooie taak voor hun sim-racers.

      Zie je in sommige sterrenrestaurants waarbij de service zo ver gaat dat ze alles doen om tot het punt waarop het tand geraakt wordt.

    Nog 2 races de sinaasappel tot de laatste druppel uitpersen, en dan zijn de W12 en RB16B per direct museumstukken geworden. Dan gaat de wissel 100% om naar 2022.
    Op AMuS mooi verhaal over de uitdagingen met flexibiliteit van onderdelen in die nieuwe auto's.

    De nieuwe RB ligt op rails, Dominante wagen. dat is wat minder maar Newey heeft een waar meesterwerk ontworpen. Het worden saaie jaren, tenminste voor P1. Daarachter gaan Mercedes en Ferraro vol strijden. Mclaren zal nog te kort komen.
