Button fantaseert over toekomst Gasly: "Alpine want hij wil bij een onafhankelijk team rijden"

Pierre Gasly is bezig met een zeer solide seizoen en laat dan ook een goede indruk achter. de Franse AlphaTauri-coureur laat zich veelvuldig vooraan zien en zijn resultaten laten een enorme indruk achter bij veel kenners en volgers van de sport. Maar de vraag is hoe zijn toekomst eruit gaat zien.

Gasly rijdt ook in 2022 voor het team van AlphaTauri maar het is nog maar de vraag of promotie naar Red Bull Racing erin zit. Enkelvoudig wereldkampioen Jenson Button denkt hardop bij Sky Sports: "Ik kan mij voorstellen dat hij eind volgend jaar veel verschillende opties zal hebben. Maar de vraag is waar zal hij heen gaan?"

Button durft wel een gokje te wagen. De Brit denkt dat Gasly's toekomst niet bij Red Bull ligt: "Waarschijnlijk bij Alpine, ik denk dat hij bij een onafhankelijk team wil rijden. In de toekomst moet dat team consequent voor AlphaTauri eindigen. Alpine heeft daar in ieder geval het geld voor."
