Sainz roept wedstrijdleiding op om een oogje in het zeil te houden

Dit weekend rijden de coureurs voor het eerst op het gloednieuwe Jeddah Corniche Circuit. De baan in Saoedi-Arabië lijkt een pijnsnel stratencircuit te zijn waar een ongeval in een klein hoekje schuilt. De heren coureurs zijn zich hiervan bewust en roepen de wedstrijdleiding dan ook op een oogje in het zeil te houden.

Het circuit in Jeddah barst van de snelle sectoren. Maar daarnaast zijn er ook heel erg veel blinde bochten waardoor een gevaarlijke situatie op de loer ligt. Het is dan ook hopen dat alles zonder al te veel problemen verloopt. Toch maken enkele coureurs zich zorgen.

FIA

Ferrari-coureur Carlos Sainz is één van die coureurs. De Spanjaard werd er op de gebruikelijke persconferentie op de donderdag naar gevraagd. Hij wordt geciteerd door Motorsport.com: "Als coureur probeer je er zo min mogelijk aan te denken. Je focust je op andere dingen en we moeten vertrouwen hebben op de standaarden van de FIA. Normaliter gaat dat wel goed."

Scherpte

Sainz geeft wel aan dat de coureurs toch wat hebben aangekaart bij de wedstrijdleiding. De reactietijd is in Jeddah namelijk nogal kort: "Wij kunnen niet door muren heen kijken. Dat moeten we misschien met de FIA gaan bespreken. Het zou fijn zijn als ze scherp zijn met de gele vlaggen, rode vlaggen en de safety car situaties. Dit gaat een heel interessant weekend worden."

    Tja de kans dat t met de Race zelf de eerste editie van Baky zal worden is wel aanwezig met veel spektakel en misschien een coureur die word geraakt door iemand die er niet is .
    Dus ik kan Sainz wel begrijpen , met die blinde bochten heb je nog meer concentratie nodig dan normaal

      @Larry Je kan natuurlijk niet voorspellen dat het verschil tussen de kemphanen zo minimaal is in deze eindfase.

      Klopt @Redcar, bedoelde het ook slechts als bijzin van “belachelijk circuit”.
      Daar ga ik overigens verder op in, in het bericht over de crash van Leclerc.

      Wel is de kans op spanning in de stand van het WK natuurlijk het grootst aan het einde van het seizoen, dat het de laatste ongeveer zeven jaren (2016 uitgezonderd) al eerder gespeeld was komt hopelijk niet snel terug.
      En daar zou m.i. de FIA best rekening mee mogen houden.

      Als F1-liefhebber zie toch het liefst dat de titelrivalen (coureurs en teams) puur racend om de hoogste eer gaan strijden en dat die strijd niet wordt beïnvloed en verkwanseld door externe factoren.

    Sainz geeft dus aan dat Masi Lewis in de gaten moet houden. Zeker met zulke snelle bochten tik je zo je concurrent zo in de muur met 51G
