Richard Verschoor keert in Abu Dhabi terug in de Formule 2

Afgelopen weekend vond er een zwaar ongeval plaats in de Formule 2. De Braziliaanse coureur Enzo Fittipaldi raakte gewond toen hij bij de start op de stilgevallen Theo Pourchaire klapte. Fittipaldi brak zijn hielbeen bij de crash en kan daardoor niet in actie komen tijdens de seizoensfinale in Abu Dhabi.

Zijn vervanger is een opvallende naam. De Nederlander Richard Verschoor zal namelijk instappen bij Fittipaldi's team Charouz Racing System. De Nederlander was dit seizoen al actief in de Formule 2 maar financiële problemen zorgden ervoor dat hij zijn stoeltje bij MP Motorsport moest afstaan.

Verschoor staat momenteel tiende in de tussenstand van de Formule 2. De Nederlander redelijk succesvol seizoen in de hoogste opstapklasse. Hij wist bijvoorbeeld één van de sprintraces op het circuit van Silverstone te winnen. In Abu Dhabi mag hij weer laten zien wat hij waard is.
