Sprintrace in Bahrein op andere layout?

Dit seizoen experimenteerde de Formule 1 voor het eerst met het sprintkwalificatie-format. De hoge heren van de sport waren er zelf vooral heel erg tevreden over en willen het format dan ook graag voortzetten. Ze hebben in ieder geval wilde plannen.

Het is duidelijk dat er in 2022 sowieso zes keer wordt gesprint. Volgens de geruchtenmolen zal dit onder meer gebeuren op Imola, Spielberg en ook op Zandvoort. Het lijkt erop dat er het één en ander gaat veranderen aan het format.

Losstaande evenementen

Het lijkt er namelijk op dat de hoge heren het concept nog wat overhoop willen gooien. De sprints moeten losstaande evenementen in het weekend gaan worden. Er zijn dan veel meer punten te verdienen dan tijdens dit seizoen. Ook zouden ze losstaan van hoe de startvolgorde wordt bepaald.

Outer Loop

Ook bij de aankomende seizoensopener in Bahrein zal er naar verwachting een sprintrace zijn. Men heeft wilde plannen voor dit event. Volgens Motorsport.com zouden er gesprekken worden gevoerd over de sprint op een andere layout. De race wordt dan gewoon verreden op de normale baan maar de sprint zou dan verreden moeten worden op de Outer Loop. Deze pijlsnelle layout werd vorig jaar gebruikt voor de Grand Prix van Sakhir.

      Ik heb een beter idee. Alle startposities voor elke sprintrace, wordt eerst bepaald door een quali op de nordschleife...

    Kijk, en hier ben ik dan wel voor te porren. Gewoon een normale kwalificatie voor de grote race. Maar een sprint race als losstaand evenement.

    Sprintrace is leuk voor een oval of een F2, trouwens dat laatste ook al niet, F1 moet gewoon bij het oude concept blijven. Anders moet je het zo inrichten dat de snelste van de sprintrace achteraan starten. Bedoel nu is het gewoon een onnodige slachtpartij met te veel risico
