Middenmoot ruikt kansen door ban op off-throttle blown diffusers

De Formule 1-wereld wacht gespannen af wat de beperking van het gebruik van engine mapping om continu uitlaatgassen richting de diffuser te sturen voor gevolgen voor de rangorde zal hebben. De ban op off-throttle blown diffusers gaat dit weekend in Silverstone in en diverse coureurs van teams in de middenmoot ruiken kansen.

Allereerst Rubens Barrichello van Williams. De nieuwe regels zullen in de top tien weinig veranderen. Ze verliezen misschien wat tijd, maar geen posities. Het helpt andere teams zoals Williams wellicht wel om dichterbij te komen. Hoeveel, dat weet ik niet. We hebben zelf ook wat nieuwe onderdelen om stappen te zetten. Ik hoop op een competitief weekend. Q3 halen en finishen in de top acht, dat zijn de doelen voor Silverstone.

Vervolgens Jarno Trulli van Team Lotus. De ban op off-throttle blown diffusers kan onze situatie alleen maar goed doen, vertelt de Italiaan aan Autosport. We hadden nooit de middelen of ervaring om het te gebruiken zoals de topteams. Een exacte inschatting is lastig, het zal per auto verschillen. Maar ik denk dat we dichter in de buurt van de teams voor ons kunnen komen. Misschien zelfs zoveel dat we Q2 kunnen halen, maar dat is een grote uitdaging.

Tot slot Force India-coureur Adrian Sutil. De maatregelen treffen ons minder hard. Het lijkt alsof wij niet veel gaan verliezen, de rijbaarheid van de auto is nog hetzelfde als voorheen. Met de off-throttle blown diffuser liep niet alles altijd volgens plan en konden we de cijfers uit de windtunnel niet vertalen naar het circuit. Nu gaan we terug naar de normale situatie en onze balans zal goed zijn. Anderen zullen meer verliezen dan wij.

Al die auto\'s die nu alles eraf moeten halen zijn in de basis al veel beter dan de middemoters, dus zal het ijdele hoop zijn.

Ik denk eerlijk gezegd dat het morgen gewoon weer pole is voor die kleine Duitser. Het seizoen blijft denk ik zo saai als het nu is met iedere kwalificatie dezelfde auto op pole. Redbull zal de grootste weerstand gaan krijgen op Spa, Monza en in India.. Voor de rest, kat in het bakkie. Vettel zal de wereldtitel niet meer verspelen nu.

Ik hoop gewoon dat de top volgend seizoen dichter bij elkaar zit en zie vanaf nu gewoon alle races apart van elkaar.
