Räikkönen sluit comeback uit: "Teveel politiek en andere nonsens"

De loopbaan van Kimi Räikkönen zit er sinds vorig weekend op. De Fin heeft de helm aan de wilgen gehangen na een lange en succesvolle loopbaan. Op het einde leek het erop dat Räikkönen het wel had gezien in de koningsklasse van de autosport.

Räikkönens no-nonsense aanpak zorgde ervoor dat hij uitgroeide tot één van de populairste coureurs van het veld. Zijn vaak korte antwoorden op persconferenties, felle scheldpartijen op de boordradio en zijn stoïcijnse gedrag waren voeding voor zijn alsmaar groeide groep fans.

Belangrijkst

Het leek er soms op dat de Fin alleen maar wilde racen en de rest hem geen stuiver interesseerde. Toch ligt dit wat anders, in gesprek met het Duitse Welt spreekt hij zich uit: "Ik heb altijd mijn leven buiten de Formule veel belangrijker gevonden dan de sport. Het neemt veel tijd in beslag maar de Formule 1 is nooit het belangrijkste geweest in mijn leven."

Politiek

Een comeback van Räikkönen kan men wel uitsluiten. De huidige Formule 1 is niet zo aantrekkelijk meer voor de Fin. Hij is nogal duidelijk: "Er is teveel nonsens en politiek. Zo is het nou eenmaal maar het lijkt alsof het alleen maar erger wordt."

Nonsens en politiek is er zover ik me kan herinneren altijd al geweest in de F1.. Ik denk dat het voor Kimi erger lijkt omdat hij er nu echt wel klaar mee was, dan ga je je ergeren aan dingen en lijkt het allemaal erger..

  Nee, die zit wel ergens in Finland op een terras in een jacuzzi met zijn vrouw Minttu.
  Overigens zou een eiland natuurlijk wel kunnen, maar dat met andere vrouwen.... wellicht toch niet. Die bierbuik sluit ik zeker niet uit!

  En Kimi heeft een zeer divers voertuigenpark om zwellingen van de onderbuik weer vlotjes weg te werken. Ik ben benieuwd of we van hem überhaupt nog iets te horen gaan krijgen. Hij zal toch wel eens opdagen in de stal van Ferrari tijdens een Europese GP? Of Alpine, Sauber, McLaren...
