Nieuwe FIA-president Ben Sulayem neemt functie uiterst serieus: "Dit is geen parttime baan"

Het zijn belangrijke tijden voor de Formule 1. Aankomend seizoen gaan er nieuwe regelementen gelden in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Daarnaast is men ook hard bezig met de nieuwe motorregelementen voor 2026, de wereld verandert en de Formule 1 is bezig zich daarop aan te passen.

Ook binnen autosportfederatie FIA is er veel aan het veranderen. Sinds vorige week zijn er immers veel nieuwe namen aangetreden binnen de autosportbond. Mohammed Ben Sulayem werd vorige week verkozen tot de nieuwe president van de FIA, hij neemt zijn baan zeer serieus.

Frankrijk

Hij geeft alles voor zijn nieuwe functie, dat betekent ook dat hij het Midden-Oosten gaat verlaten. In gesprek met Motorsport.com spreekt hij zich uit: "Dit is een missie. Dit is geen normale parttime baan en ik kan dan ook niet in het VAE blijven of ergens anders gaan wonen. Ik ga mij vestigen ergens in Frankrijk. Ik hou mij vast aan mijn plannen en dat gaat veel tijd kosten. Ik weet niet hoeveel maar ik weet wel dat het zoveel tijd gaat kosten als nodig is."

Formule 1

Ben Sulayem gaat ook veel van zijn tijd besteden aan de Formule 1. In Abu Dhabi was hij al aanwezig maar hij moet zich nog wel inlezen over een aantal zaken. Desalniettemin gaat zijn focus ook hier volledig naar waar het nodig is: "Ik ga zoveel tijd besteden aan de Formule 1 als nodig is. Ik heb er voor gezorgd dat ik onafhankelijk ben van mijn werk, dit heb ik gedaan van alles wat mij weg kan houden bij de FIA."

Überhaupt het al over die jurk willen hebben roept bij mij al vraagtekens op, wat maakt het uit hoe iemand gekleed gaat, alsof dat al maatgevend zou zijn?
Maar goed laten we hopen dat onder zijn leiding het reglement van de F1 eens flink op de schop gaat en vooral veel duidelijker gaat worden en... [Lees verder]

Als je je niet blind staart op z'n jurk dan denk ik dat hij best een goede president kan worden.

Ik verwacht dat hij zeker zijn stempel gaat drukken en geen ruimte voor BS van teams zal accepteren die denken een streepje voor te hebben op andere teams.
