Williams wil dat Latifi stopt met overpeinzen: "Hij is bijna te intelligent"

Nicholas Latifi beleefde in 2021 een redelijk seizoen. De Canadees kon eindelijk laten zien wat hij waard was en beloonde zich met een aantal puntjes. Hij werd verder compleet overschaduwd door zijn teamgenoot George Russell en hoopt dit jaar te kunnen schitteren. Bij zijn team Williams weten ze wat daar voor nodig is.

Latifi is overduidelijk niet de beste coureur van het veld maar is zeker geen slechte coureur. Hij zal dit jaar zijn talent moeten tonen naast Alexander Albon. Williams-kopstuk Dave Robson spreekt zich uit bij Motorsport.com: "Er is aankomend seizoen een complete reset. De auto's zijn anders en hij heeft een nieuwe teamgenoot. Er is een kans voor hem op te stralen. Hij heeft alles wat er voor nodig is maar hij moet meer op zijn instinct vertrouwen."

Overpeinzen

Het vertrouwen op zijn instinct in volgens Robson zeer belangrijk. Latifi doet dat te weinig en dat is zijn zwakke punt. Robson is er duidelijk over: "Hij overpeinst dat te vaak. Mogelijk is dat een onderdeel van het probleem. Hij neigt ernaar om teveel na te denken, hij is bijna te intelligent om op zijn instinct te rijden. Maar het is cruciaal dat hij die wel heeft."

    Nicholas heeft oud en nieuw in Oostenrijk bij Helmut gevierd.
    Onder het genot van braadworst en bitterballen (geleverd door Bill) hebben ze het afgelopen seizoen nog ff besproken.

    Zijn tot de conclusie gekomen dat er maar één man aanspraak kon maken op de titel.......en hij heeft hem nog gewonnen ook.

    Williams heeft in 2022 met Lafiti en Albon twee grote lieverds in huis. Dat belooft wat, al zal het voor de resultaten onderaan de streep weinig uitmaken. Daarnaast zal de financiële compensatie ruim zijn en ligt er wellicht een motorendeal met Red Bull in het verschiet.

      Williams neemt per 2022 ook de versnellingsbak en andere onderdelen af van Williams. Daarnaast heeft Toto nog een klein aandeeltje in Williams, gaat geen motorendeal komen met Red Bull.

      Ik zie Williams eerder samenwerken met VAG (Porsche/Audi) of anders gewoon bij Mercedes blijven.

      En ondertussen heeft Albon een chip in zijn hersenpan gekregen waarmee dagelijks automatisch het opgevoerde motorblokkie van Mercedes wordt gescand...

      Dat ze nu tevens de versnellingsbak van Merc afnemen, zie ik niet als een intensivering van de samenwerking, maar als een breuk met het eerdere (onbegrijpelijke) Williams-beleid.

      Daarnaast is de resterende 5% van Toto Wolff het gevolg van een administratieve miskleun bij een eerdere poging de aandelen aan een partij over te dragen, niet de wens van Toto om een belang in de renstal te houden.

      Williams ontwikkelt zelf geen versnellingsbak en daarom moet Williams wel bij Williams aankloppen.
