Button wil in 2022 Albon en Latifi begeleiden bij Williams

Voormalig wereldkampioen Jenson Button is naast F1-analist bij Sky Sports, ook adviseur voor zijn oude werkgever Williams, die de Brit op jonge leeftijd liet debuteren in het seizoen van 2000. Button kon afgelopen seizoen vanwege coronamaatregelen de rijders bij Williams niet ondersteunen, maar hoopt op verandering in 2022.

"Eigenlijk was ik slechts een spreekbuis voor bepaalde mensen in het team", zei hij, geciteerd door Motorsport-total.com. “Ik bracht veel tijd door met de teameigenaren en ook met het marketingteam, maar vorig jaar bracht ik niet zoveel tijd door met de coureurs omdat ik niet naar de technische ruimte of de garage kon vanwege de coronamaatregelen."

“Vorig jaar was het vrij beperkt, wat voor beide kanten jammer is. Maar in het nieuwe jaar ga ik nog veel meer met ze doen."

In 2022 rijden Nicolas Latifi en Alexander Albon voor de iconische renstal en kunnen dus gebruik maken van het advies van Button.
