Mazepin vergelijkt zichzelf met wijn: "Ik word met de jaren beter"

Nikita Mazepin kende een zeer stroef begin in 2021, maar verbeterde zich gestaag gedurende de tweede seizoenshelft. De Haas-coureur erkent dat hij vaak de tijd nodig heeft om zich aan te passen en heeft veel baat gehad aan een volle F1-kalender.

"Vroeger kon ik mijn seizoen niet halverwege herstarten", vertelde hij aan motorsport-magazin.com. “Om eerlijk te zijn moet ook gezegd worden dat de seizoenen veel korter waren. Als je maar negen races hebt, heb je veel minder pogingen. Als je 23 races hebt, heb je veel meer pogingen. Ik ben in ieder geval blij met de manier waarop het gaat."

"Ik ben als wijn, ik word beter met de jaren! Als ik naar mijn carrière kijk: als de auto bij mij past en de afstelling goed is, dan kan ik meteen snel zijn. Maar ik heb wat tijd nodig om de auto, het team en mezelf als een compleet pakket te laten functioneren totdat we de doorbraak kunnen maken."

    S novym godom!

    Als voorzitter van de Mazepin fansclub, verwacht ik dat de Tsaar nog zeker een paar seizoenen in de koningsklasse van de Formule 1 zal blijven rijden. En als hij zijn uitspraak kracht bijzet, kan hij voor de ogen van eenieder die hem verkettert, een prima aanvulling op het veld der gladiatoren zijn. Iets wat hij, voor mij, nu al is.

    Nou is Russische wijn ronduit bagger, hoe lang je het ook laat liggen. De voormalige sovjet-republiek Georgië daarentegen is wel bekend om hun wijn, cognac en champagne.

      Liefhebber, ja weldegelijk . Enkel onder andere naam. Op Stalin na heeft Georgië best wel goede dingen voortgebracht.

      @Liefhebber1: Jazeker, google er maar eens op. Ik geloofde het eerst ook niet, maar een overbuurman van mij in NL importeerde het uit Georgië. Op de flessen cognac staat 'Kohbrk' en dat betekent cognac. Overigens, ook uit het buurland Armenië komen uitstekende cognacs. Nu woon ik in Frankrijk, dus heb ik genoeg aan het aanbod cognac en armagnac. Maar ik vond het bepaald geen vervelende kennismaking.

      Natuurlijk, zo zijn er vele landen en streken waar een soortgelijke drank vandaan komt wat officieel geen Cognac of Champagne mag heten.
      En vaak zijn ze ook nog eens vele malen goedkoper en lekkerder.
      Zo wip ik nog wel eens even de grens over voor een goed flesje Alter Weinbrand van rond de €15,-

    Tja. En daar is f1 niet voor bedoeld vind ik. Rijpen doe je maar in andere klasses.

      Snap wat je bedoelt, maar ook niet helemaal eens. Toro Rosso was ooit juist aangekocht door Red Bull om daar talentvolle coureurs te laten rijpen en te proeven aan F1. Net als de reden waarom Russell bij Williams was gestald de afgelopen 3 seizoenen; om te rijpen (het kwam Mercedes niet echt goed uit dat Russell meteen kampioen werd in F2, anders hadden ze 'm langer daar minimaal 1 seizoen langer laten zitten vermoed ik; zelfde geldt voor Leclerc. Doordat ie meteen kampioen werd in F2 moest Ferrari hem een plek vinden in F1 en mocht ie rijpen bij Sauber, die hun contract met Honda ervoor verscheurde).

      Dus waarom zou Mazepin dan niet mogen rijpen bij Haas?

      Je mag qel rinpen in de F1, dat doet iedereen.

      Maar het lijkt me wel gewenst dat je dat met een bepaald aanvangsniveau doet.

      Oftewel rijpen is goed, maar de F1 is geen opleidingsklasse.

    Hij heeft dus net zoveel verstand van wijn als van Formule 1. zijn wijn wordt alleen met de dag zuurder, het is nu als niet te zuipen en zit al tegen de azijn zuurgraad aan
