Gasly rekent op stoeltje bij topteam in 2023

Pierre Gasly ziet 2023 als zijn grote kans om terug te keren in een team dat in staat is om te strijden voor het kampioenschap. De Fransman ziet zichzelf als de voor de hand liggende kandidaat voor een stap omhoog, aangezien hij gedurende het seizoen 2021 het maximale uit zijn AlphaTauri-auto heeft gehaald, vooral in de kwalificatie.

In tegenstelling tot andere coureurs met een groot potentieel, zoals Charles Leclerc en Lando Norris, realiseert Gasly zich dat zijn huidige team nooit een potentiële kanshebber is voor het WK, aangezien ze tweede team zijn van eigenaar Red Bull. Een terugkeer naar Red Bull Racing zou de ideale stap zijn voor de 25-jarige coureur, nu hij een meer volwassen en complete coureur is dan toen hij tevergeefs naast Max Verstappen reed in het begin van 2019.

Sergio Perez kreeg opnieuw de voorkeur van Red Bull Racing voor 2022, waardoor Gasly naast Yuki Tsunoda bij AlphaTauri blijft, maar het volgende jaar zullen er mogelijk meer stoelen vrijkomen op de grid vanwege het aflopen van diverse contracten.

Kansen gaan komen

Gevraagd tijdens een interview met Auto Motor und Sport of hij bang was om in de beste jaren van zijn carrière vast te zitten bij een team in het middenveld, antwoordde Gasly: “Nee, want de markt zal veranderen. Veel contracten lopen af in 2023 dus er gaan kansen komen. In de Formule 1 gaat alles heel snel. Ik maak me niet al te veel zorgen."

"Er zullen kansen komen, dat weet ik zeker. We zullen zien wanneer het de juiste tijd is. Op dit moment concentreer ik me op mijn prestaties. Ik doe mijn best. Het beste wat ik kan doen, is resultaten herhalen zoals in Mexico - vijfde worden in de kwalificatie, achter Mercedes en Red Bull in een auto die thuis hoort in de middenmoot. Ik zou het zeker beter doen met een snellere auto. Dat is het enige dat telt."

Hij zou Alonso of Ocon kunnen vervangen bij Alpine. Of Ricciardo bij McLaren. In de Mercedes naast Russell als Lewis stopt misschien? Bij Red Bull zal het in ieder geval niet gebeuren.

  Waarom niet bij RedBull? Perez gaat niet eeuwig door en is vervangbaar. RedBull is achter Gasly blijven staan ondanks dat hij op het moment dat hij in de hoofdmacht stond niet goed genoeg was. Ik denk ook dat het goed is dat hij Albon niet heeft vervangen omdat juist na Albon er enorm veel druk op stond bij RB. Ze hebben het geprobeerd met hem bj RB maar het werkte toen nog niet, vervolgens hebben ze hem een nieuwe kans bij AT gegeven om te groeien en leren en dat heeft hij uitstekend doorlopen. Ik denk dat hij in 2023 gewoon in de RB zit en Perez met pensioen gaat.

  Ik denk dat eventueel Alpine het enige team is waar hij kans zou kunnen maken om zijn nationaliteit.
  Teams als Mercedes en Ferrari denk ik sws niet omdat ze daar ook wel zagen dat hij niet heel goed tegen de druk kan. Ook al is hij behoorlijk gegroeid.

  Renault met 2 goede coureurs staat maar net boven AT. Als Yuki het wat beter gedaan had, had AT dik boven Alpine gestaan

  volgens geruchten staat gasley bovenaan de lijst van toto als hamilton ermee kapt. ik denk dat toto hem als tweede rijder wil halen naast russel om zo de taak van bottas over te nemen. en ik denk dat hij dat wel aan kan, gasley is enorm gegroeid laatste 2 jaar en heel erg consistent. hij heeft laten zien dat die in een klein team als toro rosso regelmatig coureurs als leclerc, sainz en norris bij kan houden en soms zelfs verslaat.

Hij kon niet tegen de druk van o.a Max.
Maar dat is weer 'n flinke tijd geleden, wie weet hoe hij zich nu houdt tegenover Max.

Hij zal nooit en te nimmer beter worden dan Max, maar zal zich nu wel beter staande kunnen houden, dat geloof ik wel.

Ik durf hem aan: hij is beter dan Sergio.

Heel verstandig van Gasly om je zo te profileren. Lekker rond bazuinen dat je in een team rijdt waar je jezelf te goed voor vind. Zullen zijn monteurs ook fijn vinden om te horen, die zich uit de naad werken om hem met het best mogelijk materiaal op pad te sturen. De reden dat hij niet bij RB zit, is omdat hij klasse tekort komt en omdat Pierre alleen aan Pierre denkt.

  Zijn monteurs zijn ook niet achterlijk en begrijpen de ambities van Gasly ook wel hoor.
  Wellicht/waarschijnlijk hopen zij ook zelf op een promotie naar het A-team.
