Schumacher hekelt Mercedes-uitspraken: "Arrogante overpeinzing"

De nieuwe reglementen kunnen er zomaar voorzorgen dat het Formule 1-veld aankomend seizoen compleet door elkaar kan worden gehusseld. Veel volgers snakken naar een wisseling van de wacht, de sport wordt sinds 2014 immers veelvuldig gedomineerd door Mercedes. Alleen Max Verstappen wist afgelopen seizoen de ban te doorbreken.

Mercedes was de afgelopen jaren zeer dominant in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Alleen Verstappen kon ze echt verslaan maar verder gingen alle titels naar Mercedes. De Duitse renstal heeft sinds 2014 alle titel gepakt, met uitzondering van de wereldtitel van de Nederlander. Veel mensen roepen dan ook smalend dat iedereen wel kan winnen in de Mercedes.

Arrogant

Haas-coureur Mick Schumacher kan zich allesbehalve vinden in die redenatie van velen. De jonge Duitser is elke nog keer nogal gepikeerd door dit soort opmerkingen. In gesprek met de Italiaanse sportkrant Corriere dello Sport is hij overduidelijk: "Iedereen verdient zijn plaats in de Formule 1 en iedereen hier kan rijden. Maar je kan alleen maar zeggen dat je kan winnen met een Mercedes als je in die auto zit. Als je het omdraait is het een arrogante overpeinzing."

Groeien

Het is de verwachting dat Schumacher zelf niet in de buurt kan gaan komen van de Mercedessen. De Haas was tijdens het afgelopen seizoen veruit de slechtste auto van het veld. Toch is de Duitser optimistisch gestemd: "We lagen niet zover achter als Williams in 2019. We hadden zelfs wat duels op de baan. Maar natuurlijk zou ik er daar meer van hebben. Ik hoop gewoon dat ik kan groeien in het aankomende seizoen. Mijn focus ligt daar in ieder geval op."

Nou, overduidelijk...

Als je het omdraait is het een arrogante overpeinzing? Dat je alleen maar kan verliezen als je niet in een Mercedes zit?

Mick moet lekker de tijd nemen, ik verwacht betere resultaten van Gene Haas dit jaar..

Geen negetieve kritiek hoor maar, dit stuk txt

  Het was de combinatie Merceds Hamilton die dominant was. Ferrari heeft drie seizoenen serieus wat tegenstand geboden en was 2 daarvan zeker beter dan de Mercedes. Ook was de Red Bull dit seizoen een groot deel van het seizoen de betere wagen en nog heeft Mercedes/Hamilton gewonnen was het niet voor die vreemde beslissing van Masi. Ik ben het helemasl eens met Schumacher.

  Schumacher heeft hier echt wel een punt hoor..... Echt niet iedereen kan zomaar kampioen worden in een Mercedes, kijk maar naar Bottas en eigenlijk ook Rosberg.... Rosberg had gewoon geluk dat Lewis in 2016 meer pech had dan hij, anders had hij dat jaar ook geen kampioen geworden....
  Je moet ook enorm talentvol zijn en consistentie kunnen brengen..... Het meerendeel van het huidige veld wordt echt niet zomaar kampioen in een Mercedes...

  @Mario; klopt. Eigenlijk moet je zeggen dat elke redelijke coureur in die auto kampioen wordt als de nummer 1 (en duidelijke betere coureur het af laat weten). Bijvoorbeeld 2016, toen Rosberg de eerste 4 (!) races won. Alleen daarna de bibberitus kreeg dat ie wel eens WDC zou kunnen worden en Hamilton zich herpakte. Alleen zelfs met de meeste overwinningen dat jaar voor Hamilton nekte die dikke DNF in Maleisië hem.

  Je hebt vaker Bottas en Rosberg aangehaald om te bewijzen dat niet 'iedereen' in de MB kan winnen. Ik denk ook niet het hele veld, maar zeker wel 1/3 van het huidige veld!
  
  Het feit dat je Bottas en Rosberg aanhaalt zegt mij dat je hun kwaliteitten veel te hoog inschat. Die twee zijn echt sub-top, en Lewis zit net onder de top. En dit alles baseer ik op de behaalde resultaten in hun carriere's.
  
  Ik kan echt met de beste wil van de wereld Lewis (gezien de resultaten tegen zijn teamgenoten) geen echte topper noemen!
  Hoop dat dit jaar het Russell gegund is om hem het vuur aan de schenen te leggen, maar vrees dat hij ditt jaar nog in dienst van Lewis gaat rijden.
