Alfa Romeo verandert naam om exclusiviteit uit te stralen

Aankomend seizoen zal alles anders zijn in de Formule 1. Er gaan immers nieuwe reglementen in en ook bijvoorbeeld de banden veranderen drastisch. Bij het team van Alfa Romeo hebben ze ook een nogal bijzondere verandering doorgevoerd. De Zwitserse renstal heeft namelijk zijn naam aangepast.

Het team stond de afgelopen jaren op de grid onder de naam 'Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN'. De renstal vond die naam niet passend genoeg en heeft hem dan ook aangepast. Voortaan gaat het team door het leven als 'Alfa Romeo F1 Team ORLEN'. Op het oog geen grote aanpassing maar het team heeft er wel tenminste over nagedacht.

Exclusieve club

In een persbericht geeft de Zwitserse ploeg aan waarom ze voor de toevoeging 'F1 Team' hebben gekozen. Volgens het statement is het een teken van exclusiviteit: "Het staat voor het lidmaatschap van één van de meest exclusieve clubs in de wereld. We zijn één van de tien teams in de wereld die deze prestigieuze naam kan gebruiken."

Naast de nieuwe naam heeft het team ook een nieuw logo. Deze verschilt niet zoveel van het vorige embleem maar ook hier is de toevoeging 'F1 Team' duidelijk zichtbaar. Valtteri Bottas en nieuweling Guanyu Zhou zullen het team in 2022 van successen moeten voorzien.

Elders las ik dat ze eerst van plan waren om voor een totaal andere naam te gaan, ik meen iets van Sauber of zo, maar dat kan ik me niet voorstellen. Welk F1 team noemt zichzelf nou in hemelsnaam Sauber! Ik zal eens even checken bij Guido, die heeft hier meestal wel een goede kijk op. ;-)
