Colombia geïnteresseerd in de Formule 1

Het is duidelijk dat de populariteit van de Formule 1 momenteel door het dak gaat. De koningsklasse van de autosport heeft de afgelopen jaren een nieuw, breed publiek aangeboord en dat legt de sport geen windeieren. De interesse in de sport is huizenhoog en wereldwijd ziet men kansen.

Het is al geruime tijd duidelijk dat er veel interesse is voor toekomstige races. Formule 1-CEO Stefano Domenicali heeft al meerdere malen laten doorschemeren dat er veel landen en steden maar wat graag een Grand Prix willen organiseren. Het is niet altijd even duidelijk om welke locaties het gaat maar soms is men zeer enthousiast.

Baranquilla

Het volgende land dat zich in de openbaarheid kandidaat stelt voor een plekje op de kalender is Colombia. Het Zuid-Amerikaanse land wil graag een Grand Prix organiseren in de havenstad Baranquilla en dat steekt men niet onder stoelen of banken. President Ivan Duque deelt met trots de plannen in gesprek met El Tiempo: "De burgemeester zegt dat er een optie is om een plan voor een Formule 1-project te presenteren. Het klinkt als toekomstmuziek maar de burgemeester heeft zelfs al met de Formule 1-organisatie gesproken."

Semi-stratencircuit

President Duque ziet het idee helemaal zitten en staat dan ook volledig achter de plannen van Baranquilla. Mocht het daadwerkelijk zover komen, dan moet er nog wel het één en ander gebeuren. Duque weet dat: "Er zal het nodige worden aangepast maar het kan een semi-stratencircuit worden op een lay-out waar men nog naar moet kijken."

Colombia, waarom niet, is heel veel export uit dit soort landen, niks mis mee.

Voor de F1 maakt het niet uit waar er gereden wordt, als ze maar betalen.
Zou leuk zijn als Tanja zou afvlaggen.

  Het BBP ligt ook vele malen hoger dan heel Europa en Amerika bij elkaar opgeteld. Ook de export waarde ligt vele malen hoger. Er liggen zelfs miljarden dollars die ze zo uit de grond opgraven.
  Dat hier nooit eerder naar toe is gegaan...

Baranquilla kan mooi een zusterstad worden van Zandvoort. Twee landen die in de wereld bekend staan om hun uit- en invoer van harddrugs. Kan allemaal mooi met de F1 mee!!
