Yamamoto gaat brug vormen tussen Honda en Red Bull

Red Bull Racing en Honda werkten de afgelopen jaren innig samen met maar één doel: de wereldtitel. Vorig jaar werd dat doel bereikt in Honda's laatste jaar. Max Verstappen kroonde zich tot wereldkampioen en het feest was reusachtig. Ook de Honda-werknemers deelden mee in de festiviteiten met als stralend middelpunt kopstuk Masashi Yamamoto.

De Japanner was één van de kopstukken van Honda en men verwachtte dat hij nog actief zou blijven binnen de organisatie. Honda en Red Bull blijven in ieder geval samenwerken en de Japanners blijven actief betrokken bij de ontwikkeling van de motor. Veel Honda-werknemers stapten ook over naar Red Bulls motorproject ,ze hebben de motoren nu immers in eigen beheer, en het was de verwachting dat Yamamoto zou volgen.

Bedrijfje

Nu blijkt dat de Japanner inderdaad betrokken blijft bij het team maar op een iets andere manier dan men had verwacht. Bij Motorsport.com legt hij het zelf uit: "Ik heb een bedrijfje opgericht en daarmee heb ik een contract getekend met Red Bull Powertrains. Het is moeilijk om het uit te leggen maar ik zal Horner en Marko ondersteunen en adviseren als ze dat van mij verlangen."

Brug

Yamamoto zal dus niet in dienst treden van de Oostenrijkse renstal maar hij zal ook niet meer werken voor Honda. Hij zal een soort levende brug gaan spelen: "Het kan gaan over het beter begrijpen van de Japanse cultuur of de cultuur binnen Honda. Alles om de relatie nog beter te maken. Maar ik kan ook een talentvolle Japanse coureur aanbevelen. Ik zal dus eigenlijk werken onder de vleugels van Marko en Horner. Simpel gezegd: Ik vorm een brug tussen Red Bull en Japan."

Dat heeft hij slim bekeken; een brug vormen tussen beide firma's; nu moeten ze beiden over de brug komen ;-)

  Hahaa ja juist Schwantz! Toch denk ik dat Honda onofficieel wel een draadje wil houden met Red Bull Racing. Immers liggen er voor de toekomst een aantal motorbouwers op de kust. Dus die oude weggegooide schoenen maar weer snel oppakken denk ik zo maar eens.

  Dit heeft helemaal niets met geld te maken. De beste man heeft gigantisch lang bij Honda gewerkt en zou eigenlijk met pensioen kunnen gaan, maar hij wil eigenlijk nog wel iets betrokken blijven bij de F1. Op deze manier kan hij dat.

  Yamamoto is een gepassioneerd F1 liefhebber. Zou zelfs voor noppes dit doen, voor de eer en vriendschap.
  Het blijft genieten om een Japanse oudere man zo extravert happy te zien tijdens de GP’s!!!

  Yamamoto heeft in Zandvoort het hele weekend met die oranje Max cape om gelopen en met een big smile op zijn gezicht.
  Die man geniet zo enorm van de races! Hij vond het enorm jammer dat ze er mee stopten. En idd @OneRace, hij zou dit bij wijze van spreken zelfs voor niets willen doen, want hij wil het eigenlijk helemaal niet missen.

Er gaan wat geruchten dat RB in 2026 met wellicht een VW motorleverancier in zee gaat, maar dit soort berichten lijken gewoon een liefdesverklaring met Honda.
