'Las Vegas dichtbij organiseren Grand Prix'

Het is overduidelijk dat de populariteit van de Formule 1 in Amerika aan het groeien is. Ook aan de kalender is dat te zien, aankomend seizoen zijn er namelijk twee races in de Verenigde Staten. De kans is echter groot dat dit aantal binnenkort zal gaan groeien, er heeft zich namelijk nog een kandidaat gemeld.

Aankomend seizoen trekt de Formule 1 voor het eerst naar Miami maar het lijkt erop dat er nog zo'n aansprekende Amerikaanse stad bij gaat komen. Eerder was namelijk al duidelijk dat ook gokparadijs Las Vegas interesse had in een Grand Prix. Het bleef lang stil omtrent de stad maar nu blijkt dat de onderhandelingen al in verregaande staat verkeren. Mogelijk staat de race al volgend seizoen op de kalender.

The Strip

Volgens het Amerikaanse Sport Business Journal is een Grand Prix in Las Vegas dichtbij. Men aast op een race over de beroemde Strip in de stad in Nevada. Het Amerikaanse medium meldt dat de organisatie van de Formule 1 en vertegenwoordigers van de stad en de staat Nevada al maanden met elkaar in gesprek zijn. Afgevaardigden van de sport zouden de stad al regelmatig hebben bezocht. Men verwacht dat een mogelijke deal rondkomt in de eerste helft van dit jaar.

Caesars Palace

Het zou dan niet de eerste keer zijn dat men gaat racen in de gokstad. In 1981 en 1982 werd er immers een Grand Prix georganiseerd op de parkeerplaats van het bekende Caesars Palace Hotel. Het was allesbehalve een succes en de sport vertrok dan ook snel weer uit Las Vegas.

Alweer een stratencircuit? Het speciale is er wel af hoor. Monaco is speciaal en Singapore omdat het de 1e nachtrace was. Voor de rest wordt het wel een beetje eentonig zo. Al die stratencircuits.

Wel prettig qua uitzendtijden maar voor de rest worden het wel heel veel stratencircuits. Miami, Baku, Las Vegas, Singapore, SA ( al verdwijnt deze geloof ik weer als het echte circuit klaar is) Monaco.

Mja, ik ben niet zo van de stratencircuits ofschoon ik in Baku echt wel heel vette wedstrijden heb gezien.

  ik ben zelf niet per definitie tegen stratencircuits, hangt er helemaal vanaf welk circuit, zo vind ik Monaco niks, maar Baku en Signapore top.
  Als de lay-out maar spannende races mogelijk maakt. En ja, Las Vegas is natuurlijk een mooie stad om aan de kalender toe te voegen. En als de Strip onderdeel van de baan uitmaakt, lijkt me wel gaaf

  Het zou mij niks verbazen als Monaco na dit jaar van de kalender verdwijnt. Schijnen nogal wat problemen te zijn met de contracten daar. Het heeft historie en glamour, maar de race is meestal erg saai en Monaco wil naar het schijnt zelf commercieel en op media gebied bijna alles in eigen handen houden.
