Mercedes ontkent crashtest geruchten

Afgelopen weekend meldden meerdere media dat het nieuwe chassis van Red Bull Racing niet door de verplichte crashtest was gekomen. Diezelfde media meldden dat ook het nieuwe chassis van Mercedes niet door de test is gekomen, het zou een hard gelag zijn voor de Duitse kampioensformatie.

De crashtests van de FIA zijn verplichte kost voor alle teams. Men kan de nieuwe auto pas gebruiken als deze door de tests is gekomen. Er worden verschillende tests afgenomen en volgens de Italiaanse tak van Motorsport.com ging het mis bij één van deze tests. De nieuwe Mercedes zou namelijk niet door de side impact-crashtest zijn gekomen. Dit zou een pijnlijk gegeven zijn voor de Duitse ploeg.

Ontkenning

Mercedes zelf kan zich echter niet vinden in deze bewering van de Italianen. De Duitse renstal beweert zelfs dat ze weken terug al door de test zijn gekomen. Dat zou dus betekenen dat de nieuwe Mercedes al zeer vroeg door de tests van de FIA is gekomen en dat de nieuwe wagen al ver in ontwikkeling is.

Hamilton

Het is in ieder geval duidelijk dat men bij Mercedes een duidelijk deadline op het oog heeft. Het team onthult op 18 februari hun nieuwe bolide. Dan zal de wereld waarschijnlijk ook antwoord krijgen op de onduidelijkheden omtrent Lewis Hamilton. De Brit is immers al geruime tijd stil en men twijfelt aan zijn toekomst.

Wat is hier pijnlijk aan dan?
Hier zijn tests toch voor bedoeld?
Dat teams op zoek zijn naar een zo stevig mogelijk product met zo min mogelijk materiaal is evident.
