'Kleiner team heeft problemen met ontwikkeling nieuwe auto'

Alle Formule 1-teams zijn momenteel hard bezig met de voorbereidingen voor het aankomende seizoen. Door de nieuwe reglementen is het één grote puzzel voor alle teams. Niet overal loopt de voorbereiding dan ook op rolletjes. Ongewenste vertraging in het ontwikkelingsproces ligt dan ook overal op de loer.

Afgelopen week waren er verhalen over vertraging bij drie teams. Zo zouden zowel Red Bull Racing als Mercedes problemen hebben gehad bij de verplichte crashtest. Red Bull zweeg maar Mercedes kwam al snel op de proppen met bewijs dat de problemen naar het rijk der fabelen verwees. Over Aston Martin gingen er ook wilde verhalen rond, zo zou men hier zo erg in de penarie zitten dat ze de auto niet eens op tijd af zouden krijgen. Ook Aston Martin was er als de kippen bij om alles te ontkennen.

Klein team

Nu lijkt het erop dat er een ander team stevige problemen heeft. De Italiaanse journalist Giuliano Duchessa meldt op Twitter dat één van de kleinere teams grote problemen heeft met de ontwikkeling van de nieuwe auto. De Italiaan geeft echter niet aan om welk klein team het gaat.

Red Bull e Mercedes hanno negato di aver avuto problemi particolari. Aston Martin nega di essere in ritardo.

Op de huidige grid zijn er drie teams die men als klein kan beschouwen. Het gaat hier dan om Williams, Alfa Romeo en Haas. Die laatste renstal is echter al zeer lang bezig met de ontwikkelingen voor het aankomende seizoen. Met dat in het achterhoofd zou het bijzonder zijn als de Amerikaanse ploeg het team is wat zware problemen heeft.

Problemen met de ontwikkeling; niet op tijd klaar? In eerste instantie zou ik dan geneigd zijn om te gokken op Williams, maar dat lijkt me sterk aangezien Paddy Lowe daar niet meer werkt ;-)

  Precies, want ook Alfa Romeo is al heel lang met de nieuwe auto bezig. Ik kan me daarom ook alleen maar Williams voorstellen in dit verhaal. Ook al is Paddy Slow daar intussen ook weg.

  Williams is volgens mij ook de enige die echt daadwerkelijk zelf ontwikkeld. Bij Haas en Alfa kopen ze een 2ehands Ferrari en doen ze bijna niet veel meer dan andere stickers erop. Ik vrees dus ook dat het om Williams gaat. Jammer, ik had eigenlijk graag gezien dat Albon zich ook lekker vaak in het middenveld kon laten zien

Dit was logische voor teams als Minardi en HRT toentertijd. Niet voor huidige ‘kleine’ teams. Helemaal met budgetcap en nivellering van de FIA.

  De budgetcap houdt de topteams dichter bij het middenveld. De achterhoede komt er niet dichter mee bij het middenveld. Ze kunnen er alleen maar van dromen in de buurt van het plafond te komen.

  Klopt idd. dat was in 2003.
  Toen begonnen ze het seizoen met de doorontwikkelde 2002 wagen en na een race of 4 kwam pas de 2003 wagen en eigenlijk viel die wat tegen ondanks dat Schumacher er zijn 6e titel mee pakte.
