Alpine geeft technische kopstukken promotie

De winterstop werd bij het team van Alpine gekenmerkt door onrust. Kopstuk Marcin Budkowski en adviseur Alain Prost moesten het veld ruimen en de chaos leek compleet. Nu heeft de Franse renstal echter rust in de tent gebracht door enkele promoties uit te voeren op technisch vlak.

Twee technische kopstukken hebben namelijk binnen het team promotie gemaakt. Ervaren schakel Pat Fry is benoemd tot Chief Technical Officier. Ook Matt Harman maakt promotie binnen de Franse renstal. Harman wordt benoemd tot technisch directeur van het team van Alpine. Beide heren zijn al geruime tijd actief binnen de sport en hebben hun sporen ruimschoots verdiend.

Op coureursvlak blijft alles voor Alpine in ieder geval hetzelfde. Fernando Alonso en Esteban Ocon blijven actief als coureurs en gaan aankomend seizoen jagen op successen. Oscar Piastri fungeert aankomend jaar als derde coureur bij het Franse team. Het is nog niet duidelijk wie hun chef wordt aangezien Budkowski is vertrokken. Voormalig Aston Martin-teambaas Otmar Szafnauer wordt veelvuldig in verband gebracht met deze belangrijke functie. Duidelijkheid is er echter nog niet op dit gebied.

Ergens hoop ik dat Alonso nog een keertje de titel pakt. Aan de andere kant, het zou mooi zijn als Alonso, Hamilton, Verstappen en Sainz/Leclerc tot laatste ronde strijden om de titel.

Dit soort organisatorisch gerommel vlak voor de start van het seizoen doet een team doorgaans niet heel erg goed. Volgens mij is 2022 al spannend genoeg met al die wijzigingen op meerdere vlakken; dan heb je juist baat bij een stabiele, goed op elkaar ingewerkte organisatie die snel hierop kan inspelen.
