Aston Martin trekt nieuwe grote titelsponsor aan

Het team van Aston Martin wil zich zo snel mogelijk melden aan de kop van het Formule 1-veld. De Britse renstal in Canadese handen barst dan ook van de ambitie en daar horen ook grote sponsors bij. Gisteren werd bekend dat de groenkleurige renstal een gloednieuwe grote extra titelsponsor heeft aangetrokken.

Aston Martin maakte gisteren bekend dat ze een langdurig partnership hebben afgesloten met het Saoedische staatsoliebedrijf Aramco. De deal zorgt ervoor dat het team vanaf nu officieel verder gaat onder de naam 'Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant F1 Team'. Het is dan ook de verwachting dat de logo's van het Saoedische bedrijf prominent zullen pronken op de groene bolides van Aston Martin.

Winnen

Aramco is geen nieuwe naam in de Formule 1, het Saoedische bedrijf is ook aan de sport zelf verbonden en de logo's zijn zichtbaar langs de baan bij enkele races. Teameigenaar Lawrence Stroll is in ieder geval een zeer trots man. In een persbericht spreekt hij die trots uit: "We zitten in de sport om te winnen dus ik ben blij dat we een partner van deze statuur kunnen verwelkomen bij het team. Ik heb geleerd dat ze zeer veel kennis en capaciteit in huis hebben en ik weet zeker dat het ons kan helpen bij ons doel om wereldkampioenschappen te winnen."

Ambitie

Het team toonde het afgelopen jaar hun torenhoge ambitie. De renstal begon aan de bouw van een gloednieuw en hypermodern onderkomen. Daarnaast trok Aston Martin enkele grote namen aan, zo werd voormalig McLaren-bons Martin Whitmarsh aangetrokken als CTO. Aankomend seizoen zitten Sebastian Vettel en Lance Stroll weer achter het stuur van de nieuwe bolide. Het doek wordt op 10 februari van die nieuwe wagen getrokken.

Ik vraag me af wat ster-coureur Vettel hiervan vind… die heeft ook geel veel met ‘groen’, maar dan niet zozeer Racing Green…

  Denk dat het wellicht een kans is om met ze in gesprek te gaan over de positie van LHBT-mensen binnen die organisatie die ook invloed kan hebben voor het land.

Het zijn twee losse organisaties en dat Stroll een coltrolerende hoeveelheid aandelen heeft met een coalitie zegt in deze niets. Hij heeft het team niet cadeau gedaan aan de fabrikant oid.
