Massa vol lof over Sainz: "Echt een sterke coureur"

Het team van Ferrari wil aankomend seizoen terugkeren aan de kop van het veld. De Italianen willen keihard terugslaan na enkele rampzalige seizoenen in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Ze laten niets aan het toeval over en de voorbereidingen voor het aankomende seizoen zijn dan ook al geruime tijd in volle gang.

Carlos Sainz en Charles Leclerc vormen nog steeds het hoog aangeschreven rijdersduo van de Italiaanse renstal. Sainz reed vorig jaar voor het eerst in het scharlakenrood en was meteen zeer vlot. Hij versloeg teamgenoot Leclerc en mocht meermaals het podium beklimmen. Het hoogste treetje was nog te hoog gegrepen maar de hoop en ambities zijn hoog voor het aankomende seizoen.

Snel

Voormalig Ferrari-coureur Felipe Massa denkt dat Sainz de perfecte man is voor zijn oud werkgever. De Braziliaanse vice-kampioen van 2008 deelt zijn verwachtingen met het Spaanse AS. Daar bespreekt hij louter sterke punten van Sainz: "Hij werkt heel erg hard, hij is constant en daarnaast ook heel erg snel. Hij is echt een heel erg sterke coureur."

Perfect werk

Massa sluit dan ook niet uit dat Sainz in de toekomst zomaar voor de titels kan meestrijden. Maar de ervaren Braziliaan weet dat er daarvoor wel meerdere factoren meespelen. "Het hangt echt van de auto af. Hij heeft de belangrijke consistentie. Het is niet makkelijk om een coureur als Leclerc als teamgenoot te slim af te zijn. Als je dat doet, dan moet je perfect werk afleveren."

Denk dat zowel Sainz, als Leclerc, in staat is om een titel te pakken, maar of Ferrari hun zo'n goede auto gaat geven dit seizoen betwijfel ik zoals elk jaar weer opnieuw.

Denk dat zowel Sainz, als Leclerc, in staat is om een titel te pakken, maar of Ferrari hun zo'n goede auto gaat geven dit seizoen betwijfel ik zoals elk jaar weer opnieuw.

  Sainz vind ik altijd op z’n slechtst als ie zichzelf druk op legt, wie wint hij ooit de titel, maar ik zie hem eerder zelf zijn kansen verprutsen zodra het echt spannend wordt.
  
  Wat dat betreft vind ik de prestatie van Max in 2021 vooral zo exceptioneel op het mentale vlak waar hij bij een dergelijk intense strijd is blijven presteren.

  @Maximo Max verprutste zijn kansen inderdaad niet, maar winnen was er ook niet echt meer bij. En het verloop van de laatste race kennen we ondertussen. Los daarvan is Max mentaal oer-Hollands sterk en een terechte kampioen.

  Wellicht. Misschien. Maar Massa had die titel MOETEN winnen in 2008. Dat Massa na zijn Ferrari jaren nog mocht rijden met Williams en daar gewoon nog presteerde is ronduit mooi te noemen. Massa is wel gewoon stukje F1 geschiedenis. Maar goed je kan geschiedenis schrijven en nog saai zijn.

Ik kijk met weemoed terug naar de sainz dagen van een paar jaar geleden hier op het forum toen hij nog team matties was met de grote #1 kampioen verstappen
