Latifi denkt niet meer aan seizoensfinale: "Ben er wel overheen"

Nicholas Latifi speelde een ongelukkige hoofdrol in de seizoensfinale van het afgelopen seizoen. De Canadees crashte in de slotfase van de Grand Prix van Abu Dhabi en daardoor kwam de safety car de baan op. Hierdoor kwam Max Verstappen vlak achter zijn rivaal Lewis Hamilton te zitten. De Nederlander verschalkte daarna zijn rivaal en kroonde zich tot wereldkampioen.

De ongelukkige Latifi kreeg na de race veel online-woede over zich heen. Veel Hamilton-fans wezen de Canadees als schuldige aan en hij kreeg zelfs doodsbedreigingen in zijn digitale inbox. Men sprak schande van de berichten en Latifi kreeg steun vanuit alle kampen. De Williams-coureur zelf hield zich daarna koest.

Tricky

Inmiddels is hij weer volop in training in voorbereiding op het aankomende seizoen. De Williams-coureur kan inmiddels normaal reflecteren op de seizoensontknoping. Tegenover Sky Sports spreekt Latifi zich uit: "Het is nu verleden tijd maar de dagen na de race waren vanzelfsprekend nogal tricky. Maar ja, het is onderdeel van de sport. Het ging zoals ik had verwacht dat het zou gaan."

Nieuws

Latifi zit ook niet meer met het moment in zijn hoofd. De Williams-coureur heeft het hoofdstuk Abu Dhabi inmiddels afgesloten voor zichzelf. "Ik ben er inmiddels wel overheen. Zodra het seizoen weer van start gaat is er voor iedereen weer iets nieuws om over te praten. Dan zal iedereen zich daar wel op gaan focussen."

Latifi is er overheen, nu de Lewis fans nog. Ze hebben nog even totdat het nieuwe seizoen begint, maar de tijd vliegt. Eventueel een consultje by Dr. Phill en doorrrr.
