Vettel laat toekomst afhangen van succes: "Logisch dat ik nog steeds wil winnen"

Sebastian Vettel is al sinds 2007 actief in de Formule 1. De Duitser veroverde in zijn lange loopbaan vier keer de wereldtitel en hij wordt dan ook gezien als één van de beste coureurs van de huidige eeuw. Toch kwam de afgelopen seizoenen de klad erin bij Vettel, men vraagt zich dan ook af hoelang zijn loopbaan nog duurt.

Aankomend seizoen staat Vettel in ieder geval nog gewoon op de grid. De Duitser was afgelopen week gewoon aanwezig bij de onthulling van de nieuwe bolide van zijn team Aston Martin. Sinds vorig seizoen rijdt Vettel in het groen van de Brits renstal, hij kwam er terecht nadat zijn contract bij Ferrari niet werd verlengd.

De vragen over een Formule 1-pensioen worden steeds luider. Op de Aston Martin-presentatie werd Vettel er dan ook naar gevraagd. Tegen over de internationale media was Vettel duidelijk: "Ten eerste moeten we maar eens zien waar we staan. Op een bepaald moment zal ik aan de toekomst gaan denken. Na mijn successen uit het verleden is het logisch dat ik nog steeds wil winnen. Dus mijn toekomst hangt daar vanaf."

    Haha die is na dit seizoen weg dus aangezien AM onder de overheersende leiding van Lawrence geen grote stappen zal gaan maken.
    We zagen de afgelopen 5 jaar al bij fabrieksteam Renault hoe onmogelijk het is om vooruit te komen als je de verkeerde mensen aan het roer hebt.
    En dat was nota bene een fabrieksteam.
    Onder Lawrence blijven ze nog jaren kwakkelen en nu de relatie met Toto ook nog eens flink bekoeld is denk ik dat AM de zomer van 2025 niet eens gaat halen. Tegen die tijd zal het van eigenaar gewisseld zijn en vinden we Lance als paydriver bij Haas.

    Ik vond Vettel afgelopen jaar eigenlijk goed, niet geweldig en gewoon goed. De auto was ook niet geweldig en liet zo nu en dan toch mooie dingen zien en het leek erop dat hij het vuur terug had gevonden. De een zegt dat de huidige auto’s wel bij hem passen en de ander niet, dat zal moeten blijken wat waar is. En daarbij is ook de vraag hoe goed de AM is, wie weet hebben ze de allerbeste auto en rijdt hij iedereen zoek of juist helemaal achteraan.
